Passat B6 steering wheel upgrade to MK6

Hi,
I am a little confused about what components I'll need to upgrade a Passat B6 multifunction wheel to a Mk6 Golf GTI wheel and airbag module.

The car currently has a 5K0953569T SW control module which appears to be an all-in-one SWCM, slipring and indicator assembly...is this correct?

If that is the case I would assume that I then need a SWCM 3C0953549AH which supports LIN 1.3 and LIN 2.0, as well as a slipring 5K0 953 549 B and cruise/indicator stalks?

This looks like its different to my R36 which has a 3C0 953 549 AC SWCM and only needs to be upgraded to a AH version when installing the newer 12 button wheels..

I swapped in the steering wheel and airbag and none of the buttons or lights worked.
I was hoping that it was a straight swap from some other information I'd read...

I tried to code the controller to turn on LIN 2.0 but request was out of range.

If I also get a new slipring 1K0 959 653 C ,
a cruise stalk 1K0953513G,
as well as the swcm 3C0 953 549 AH,

can I then replace the 5K0953569T control unit?

569T is better then 549AH.
Also you're mixing alot of not compatible part codes, like CCS stalk and swcm.

The autoscan you posted is able to handle lin2, but then you start to talk abou swcm ...549AC.
So which one is it?

I tried to enable LIN 2.0 on the 569T however I got request out of range error...does this module need security access first?

If I can use the existing 569T with the new steering wheel then this is the best outcome obviously.

Perhaps it is just a problem with the harness. I'll have a look at that next.

Just wanted to add some information from Dana that should be the answer to my problem when I get to see the car again:

Byte 0, Bit 7 represents LIN 1.3 (the older 8 button / Mk5 wheel type). That bit is not documented in our coding helper because VW did not use it in production as far as we know due to the faze in period of LIN 2.0 in 2009.

In conclusion I believe the rejected coding is related to enabling LIN
1.3 and 2.0 at the same time but the installed steering wheel type may be an additional conflict.

Just an update to tidy this thread up:

The coding above from Dana was the key to getting this 569T controller to talk in LIN 2.0. Without changing bit 7 in byte 0 to 0 (turns off LIN 1.3), I couldn't enable LIN 2.0 in the documented long coding helper. Need to change these two values at the same time in order for the controller to accept the coding.

Without the VIN we can't determine any of the vehicle production 
details.  Please let us know:

* Is this a retrofit or did someone change the factory condition of the 
16 module coding?

I'm glad to hear my (crazy) LIN 1.3 conflict theory resolved this! It would be helpful if you could post a final scan or the clip from 16 after the coding was resolved.

I haven't had anyone with a UDS protocol (all-in-one SWCM with integrated slip ring) send a scan with Byte 0, Bit 7 enabled from the factory or during a retrofit .... but I added a note to the Part Number 5K0-953-569 section of our Wiki page.

Please note that also SW 0136 also supports LIN1.3.
Can't paste autoscan where it is enabled, but i have tested this out specially after reading this thread.

The 5K0 953 569 T is retrofit in my car.

Please be noted that 5K0-953-569-T has TPI which updated the whole module to SW0140, so that should also support LIN1.3.

Hello everyone, i just wanted to bring some information to this topic !

From my experience, almost every 5K0 steering wheel ECU wich supports MFSW via LIN2.0 also supports LIN 1.3.
i have tried a few and every one worked properly.

Have to tick byte 0, bit 7 to turn on LIN1.3

I tried:

5K0 953 569 B with sw 122/136/140 - worked properly
5K0 953 569 AH with sw 140 - Worked properly
5K0 953 569 E with sw 140 - Worked properly
5K0 953 569 R with sw 136 - Worked properly

So it isnt just for 5K0 953 569 T, later i will try also steering ecu unit with higher 180 software

how did your higher 180 software test work?

would using one of these SWCM's which support both LIN 1.3 and 2.0 allow one to fit a MQB steering wheel to a PQ?
(providing the stalks, mounting plate, and ignition switch are also fitted for this 569 SWCM retrofit)
