Retro Rear LED's on MK6 Gti

Hi there

New to VCDs and to this forum. I've just fitted OEM rear LEDs to my '59 plate VW GTi. The people I bought them from, told me/VW to code the lights to
ROW. This did indeed, extinguish the "bulb error". Fog lamp/reverse lights seem to work fine, indicators, fine. I still need to check brake lights are correct (outside ones only?). As far as I can fronts lights are ok as well. I've found from a lot of the forums, a lot of people with front halogens, have coded byte 18 to 15?

It might just be me, and the angle, but the inner LEDs seem slightly dimmer to the outside LEDs. Not really seen them when it's pitch black outside, though.
Also now the inner LEDs don't extinguish when the tailgate is lifted, not big problem, I know.

Just want them to work as they would from the factory, UK market.

Dang, I didn't know GTIs had been around for 55 years.

Seriously, that whole "XX Plate" stuff is meaningless to anyone outside the UK. Please specify the actual model year (you can determine it from the 10th digit of the VIN) or (better yet) post up an Auto-Scan.

Its a pity you edited the VIN number, the 10th character denotes the build year.

59 = September 2009 - February 2010

Mine is a 59 plate VIN "A" and the build date was 12-01-2010.

If you type in your UK VIN number or UK registration number into http://www2.carparts-cat.com/autoxs/vrm.aspx?SID=0019560211337419088004 it will show the registration date and details on the DVLC computer.

The true identity of the car is found in the last digits but we don't typically need those in forum unless vehicle specific repair information is required to answer a specific question. The born-on date of the vehicle is the most common reason someone may require the full VIN if they were looking for a wiring diagram based on a component identifier in a fault code.

Thanks again Dana. The lights work fine, no errors. Just would've been nice for them to switch off when the hatch is lifted, like they did with the original
lights, before fitting LED ones and coding to 04 RoW.
