Hello All,

I still waiting for a solution!

So its verry strange when i recode the FEUL Tank ore the TIRE CIRCUMFERENCE ore ABS byte 27 the fehler comes after 4 days WHY 4 DAYS!
But when i clear the fehler the fehler comes back after 15 hours.

Is ther no way you can do a basic settings Instrument cluster ore ABS brakes???
If possible please suggestion how to do!!

Happy New Year to All,

I have update of my problem.

When I activate by 10 bit 2 acceleration on the intrument cluster ore de-activate the acceleration works Always so even when i make it 7E ore 7A.

My old instrument cluster has Always acceleration on the instrument cluster.
So i think the settings are from the gateway branded.

Hello All,

I would like to know why I can not change this setting with 17.1.2.

Illumination_algorithm-Pointer_illumination_algorithim > terminal_58xd_log_bus_parkinglight to Not present.

And the following tekst is after 15.7.4 disappeared.

Illumination_algorithm-Scale_switching_algorithm > parking_light.

I want to see if the error message has to do with this settings.

Barstanders:

You made the following observation in your post #4 that I found odd "When I erase the error it will come back after 15+ hours." (my bolding)

Anyhow, to test my hypothesis I created a compare spreadsheet using the admaps from the old/new clusters that you posted (see HERE). Whilst there are some minor differences in settings, the most obvious (IMO) is the addition of the 2 x adaptation channels in ID #190 & #191 in your new cluster (see below)

  • ID 190 (1)-Illumination_algorithm-Scale_switching_algorithm > parking_light
  • ID 191 (2)-Illumination_algorithm-Pointer_illumination_algorithim > terminal_58xd_log_bus_parkinglight

I have these two adaptation channels in my control module and (as the descriptor suggests), they are used to determine when/how the needle and clock dials illuminate

Given your "15+ hour" comment and the existence of these 2 x new adaptation channels, I'm wondering if the DTC appears when the parking lights switch-on? You might try clearing the DTC, then turning-on the parkers to see if the error message is related to this activity. Or you could try clearing the DTC and setting these adaptation channels to not active, or lds.

As there are no physical wires that connect to the instrument cluster for the Parker/Terminal 58d function, I assume that these signals are transmitted via the convenience CAN bus. If so, then it's entirely likely that the Parker-on signal is created initially by the BCM (Hex09) as this is where the rotary light switch is terminated and because the BCM is also involved in the convenience CAN bus. I'm not sure if there is a code Byte/Bit, or adaptation channel setting in the BCM that enables this message - perhaps someone else here can provide further comment. I'm also not sure how the old cluster managed this function since these two channels were missing (perhaps these activities were entirely dependent on the phototransistor in the old instrument cluster)

Don

PS: Other than the error message in the auto-scan, what actual problem is evident with the new cluster?

Hello Again,

I have read on the MQB coding site Germany that the build a Virtual cockpit in a Audi A3 2015!

A tekst of this site.

Grobe "Anleitung":
1. Armaturenbrett vom A3 Facelift eingebaut

So i see on point 5 that the ABS will recode and ther have done basic settings.

Do i need to do this olso after retrofitting instrument cluster.

Hello All,

I long time I have a isseu with my instrument cluster on my Golf 7.

Today i have test that when my car lights switch is OFF, the instrument cluster will not ligt on. only the needle.

When i switch to AUTO or light position the instrument cluster lights.

I test it with my friends car olso Golf 7, the instrument cluster of his car lights Always even with OFF position.

barstanders: hello again - your retrofitted instrument cluster certainly has been a problematic little beastie - as is evidence by this fulsome thread!!

Not sure if you are aware (my apology if you are), but the illumination for the two clocks on the instrument cluster on a mk7 are never really "off" with a Terminal 15 voltage. They are always switched-on, but controlled by a photo-transistor (and an associated electronic circuit) that lives in the tacho dial between the 7 and 8 numerals - see below:

56PpQWh.png

That's the hardware part - the software part lives (not surprisingly) in the module @ address hex17 and it takes the form of a set of adaptation channels with the term "dimming_characteristic_curve_adjustment" in their title. There is a bunch of these channels for each aspect of the instrument cluster's illumination (including the two clocks). These adaptation channel settings can be tweaked to produce all sorts of lighting effects (both good and bad!).

So in brief, the role of the photo-transistor is to modulate the cluster illumination in concert with the prevailing light levels in the cabin (the transistor "gain" changes with the quantity of light that falls onto the transparent body of the photo-transistor). In bright daylight conditions, the lighting levels are increased and in cloudy, low ambient light instances, the illumination is scaled-back. Grab a torch and shine the light into this spot to see the effect. An entirely different lighting curve comes into play for night time conditions.

Anyway, if you want to try "customizing" the clock lighting, then you might be interested in the specific tweak HERE and there is another (more general) tweak HERE that has a further explanation (more of a hypothesis, really) about how the cluster illumination might work on a mk7.

Hello DV52,

I have read your post before.
But when i see the car of my friend and the lights Always on i think maybe this will be the iseu. ( fehler )

Grab a torch and shine the light into this spot to see the effect. An entirely different lighting curve comes into play for night time conditions.

When i do this light comes into verry bright night conditions.

I now for sure the fehler have to do with ABS brakes.
This is what the vw garage olso say when i drive a couple months ago.

I have olso read somewhere on MQB coding.de the retrofit olso a instrument cluster and after the the recode the abs again.

But the problem with vcds is you can not do much on the ABS, recalibrate basic setting the possibletiy that you damage the abs is strong.
Even after 4 years Ross Tech cant make label files for the ABS.

But when i read Xagico pdf files he nows more then Ross tech about bit and byts..

Ross Tech 2017 must be the year you complies this hopefully.

Hello All,

After months i have resolve the fehler!

I have change the instrument cluster with one which will fit to my car ( this was the first msitake )
The instrument cluster had 44 km so the orginal km have been put to the cluster.

Thanks to Happay parts in Germany.
