Hi Lads,
This is my first post, so any help or pointers would be gratefully received.
2 days ago, my 2008 VW Touran 1.9 TDI lost all power, and when I tried a restart there was no life in the dash. The car was left parked for approx 1/2 and hour and then restarted fine. I ran a VAG-COM scan which returned a load of errors, so in an attempt to weed out misleading errors, I cleared all DTC's
Yesterday, the car lost power again, and 1/2 an hour later started fine again. I ran a fresh VAG-COM scan. The results were more or less the same with a most of the same errors re-appearing. The bit that jumped out was the fact that some had a weird date and time recorded alongside.
i.e. it's a 2008 vehicle, yet the log recorded a date of "September 2005"....and the DTC's had all been cleared the previous day. Also, how come the time was recorded at 31 hours 63 minutes and 63 seconds. Sounds like something seriously wrong with an internal clock.
Today the car died again for the 3rd time in 3 days. This time I can't get it started at all.
The symptoms are
1..When open the driver door, the mileometer lights up with the mileage.
2..When I turn the ignition key, there is no power to the dash, (other than the mileometer display). The car won't start.
3..I car hear what sounds like a ignition relay clicking once when I turn the key.

I had another hoke at the car today and think I have a faulty Ignition Relay. I removed the cowling just above the fuse-box at the drivers knee area. This lat me see a half dozen relays. The one that seems to have gone is in position marked "KL15" (Volkswagen/Audi part number - 1KO951253A and has a large "460" printed on it)
