DSG Gearbox 2004 A3 TDI

Looking at replacing a DSG gearbox with a customer supplied second hand part.
Just hoping to help him out in his search for a replacement.
His current gearbox code is GYN (found on sticker in spare wheel area and on top of gearbox)

Any other compatible gearbox codes??

Just to add he's found a HPQ (Possibly the seller has got code wrong and could be a HFQ)
Would this be compatible

Based on my research you can see the following:

GYN = 09/2003 - 05/2004
HFQ = 11/2004 - 05/2005


- Bottom line, I would install the correct transmission for the vehicle based on VIN.

You can use the Factory Repair Manual for more detailed information about each transmission.

Parts Link 24 is a good site, VIN driven to see what the correct parts are for the vehicles.

GYN is also fitted to 06/2004 - 07/2005 Golf. As DrPeter says Audi A3.
