Time since inspection (channel 55) exceeds Basic Time Value for Inspection (Channel 54). This will result in the service reminder being active.

Sure, perform all the maintenance required for a time-based inspection (brake fluid change, etc) and then set the Time Since Inspection channel to 0 days.

The rest of your values look OK. At worst, you'll may have to put a 0 into channel 02.

Should I just go ahead and do both values and do a reset or does does entering the new values reset the reminder?

I'm not certain on your cluster.

What I'd do is set 55 to 0, then cycle the ignition (leave it off for 60 seconds), and go to the SRI Reset screen to get a fresh overview.

If Channel 02 is at 0, you should be good to go. If not, I'd set 02 to zero manually, cycle the ignition again, to verify it stays there, and then I'd set 40 and 41 to their current values (reflecting how long it's presumably been since the oil was changed).

Uwe, I think that was a snafu with the copy paste . Here is what I see (the new value is "0")
Code:

BTW, Jetta 97 wrote that I didn't specify an operation which was true for that scan but that was just to show what was going on. I did do the "US" models only 2X before that.

Current Value is what's in there now.
New Value is what VCDS will attempt to put in when you click the [Perform SRI] button.

I will hook up again tonight. The dash message is gone so maybe I saved the log file before I performed the reset.

Yup!

But to really do it right, you should go back and put the correct values in 40 and 41, so the car doesn't think it had service done today. ;)

Well let me ask you, i did all the work but it has just sat in the garage and only driven maybe 180 miles since. I really don't do much time based service, more on the actual mileage and usually early. Is this a bad protocol? I can certainly go back in now and put new values in those fields in but is it crucial if i do all my maintenance early? The car is only driven from downstate NY to the Adirondacks. 95+% highway. Only time I take it out.
