this vehicle was involved in an accident and I replaced all airbags and airbag module (second hand) the same part number and coding as original .
power steering doesn't want to work...fault code cannot be erased

Hello,

- Was there any damage to the steering rack, wheels/rims, tie-rods or sub-frame? (The vehicle may need a new rack/J500 if there was any trauma to this controller, J500)

- Have you verified any Advanced measuring Value Block data, such as but not limited to voltages, Steering angle, System status , etc??? - Looking for anything out of the norm.

- You may want the try and 'recode' the 44-Steering Assist Controller? - This may or may not help?


- There is a Basic Settings function, [Resetting of all adaptation values], unknown what will happen if you try it.

- If all else fails, you may need to go to the Dealer to have this reset,

- if this vehicle ends up going to the dealer, let us know what the fix was, maybe another Auto-Scan. Would be nice to know for the future.. Thanks!

Have you tried a default of adaptation and or recode of 0x44?

Make sure all WSC and tester # + importer # are with continuity amongst all respective modules. Please also reboot......

Thanx for the advice guys ... after posting this i searched the error code on here and i found another south african guy with the exact issue on the exact same type of car...only he replaced his airbag module with a brand new 1...so im assuming the second hand module is not the cause...i do however need to attempt the adaptions on the 0x44 again...i remember trying to do it yesterday and it refusing because of "security access" ...tried going to login to get access but it didnt pop up with a "code for adaptions"...other guy didnt post a solution so im wondering if he eneded up replacing the steering module as the dealer said...i called the dealer in my city and they were like "uuuuuhhhhh"

security code accepted and adaptions reset...power steering working! i do however find the angle sensor signals to be slightly off and I have no idea how to do the proper adaptions..also under measurement values the angle status says "not ok"
going for a quick test drive to see what happens, but at the moment steering working and NO warning lights on at all
