To avoid discussions that are not relevant to VCDS support, I've created this thread with more details stemming from this thread where @NEtech asked if I'd tried other chargers to see why my ID.7 drops from 11kW to 7kW AC charging seemingly at random.

Ooooh yes..
I've got no easily avilable near-by 11kW chargers (closest is ~2km away), but I've seen it happen more than once on other chargers and with different cables over the last 6-8 months.
At home it happens randomly, but at a recently increasing rate during the later parts of this summer.
It's happened a late december night with temperatures just below freezing and on warm and nice mid-morning saturdays and everywhere in between.
It happens in the morning, it happens during the day and during the night and it happens on every day of the week.
My own charger is a Zaptec Go which is little more than a glorified and remote controllable relay switch bought from new and installed on it's own 20A combined fuse and HPFI (or RCD/GFCI) and the Zaptec is connected to mains with 6mm^2 (somewhere between 3 and 2 AWG) cable as it should be.
The cable between the box and the car makes no difference - it's happened with both my regular cable (a name brand LAPP type 2 22kW - there was <50DKK (less than 10USD) difference between the 22kW and 11kW cable, so I went with the 22kW one) and the one that came with the car from VW.
I've also cleaned every connection with electrical contact cleaner several times.
There is no no reduced AC charging configured in the car and the Zaptec box cannot change or limit the current draw - it can simply turn the power on or off and measure the amount of power that goes through it.
One thing that does make me ponder - and I want to see what data I can get now that I've got my HEX-V2 - is this:
When the car drops to 7kW I must physically disconnect the car from the box before it will resume charging at 11kW again.
However once it's dropped down once during a charging sessions, it seems that it's more likely to keep dropping down to 7kW until I've reached my target level.
Once there was a 20 minute period where it kept dropping down to 7kW just a few minutes in after I disconnected and reconnected the car and resumed charging more than 4 or 5 times.
In the end I just let it continue on 7kW, but dang.. I was fuming there!
But I digress..
Simply stopping charging on either the car or the box will always make it resume charging at 7kW.
Disconnecting the car and the box will always make it resume charging at 11kW, but it might drop down again to 7kW after just another 3 minutes or after 2 hours again or not at all for the rest of the charging session.
I've tried to reset the box by stopping charging and performing a reboot, but it resumed charging at 7kW.
I've also tried to power the box off by pulling its fuse (after stopping charging first to avoid breaking the circut under load), but it also resumed charging at 7kW after coming back online again.
I guess the car can measure that it's connected to something (even if it's just the connection to earth) even during reboot or when diconnecting the 3 phases and the neutral.
So now I'm waiting for the moon and stars to be just right where I can start a charging session and have VCDS measure some of the more interesting values in the "C6 Batt. Chrg." module at the same time to see what happens and why it drops one phase..
