Good afternoon everyone, I have a 2012 A3 TDI. The can Gateway module is bad. I have a replacement on its way, when I looked into reprograming the module it says that the vin has to be programmed to the new module. I called Ross Tech about weather or not the hex could could do the vin, he told me it could 100 percent code the module but told me to ask in here about the vin situation. So my question is with the Hex V2 am I able to completely reprogram the new gateway to work, and does the new module actually have to have the vin written into it. I appreciate everyone's time thank you.

A 2012 A3 should still be an 8P chassis. If so, I don't think the GW needs the VIN programmed.
Check the 7th & 8th digits of you VIN, or post the first 10 digits of it here.

OK, that is indeed a 2012 8P chassis car and I am about 99% confident that no VIN programming is needed to swap the Gateway.

When you get the interface I would firstly try to Auto-Scan the car with the original unit installed. Providing it communicates at all you can Save that result.
Then, when the new CAN Gateway is installed you can repeat the complete Auto-Scan and save that.
