SFD validation for international customers

Hi

I just placed an order for a HEX-V2 3-vin over at NEtech (Hi, @NEtech - order 16088 )

I plan on purchasing SFD unlock service, but I was wondering about the requirements for ID for international customers.

Do you require a picture of a passport or will a national danish drivers license (for my instance..) work?

Here in Denmark (and the EU) we're pretty big on data privacy and possible misuse, and while I really do want SFD capability, I also have some misgivings regarding uploading a picture of a personal ID and have it float around somewhere..

I really would like to blank out my social security number and/or part of the passport number to limit possible misuse by miscreants sometime in the future.
Given that Ross-Tech should/would never be able to look up those values anyway (or at least I assume so?), I'd like to hear if that would be acceptable, or if that would just slow down or block processing the order for SFD unlock service?

Yes, we require a picture of an ID. I believe a Danish driver's license will be acceptable, if it is of the newer, more-or-less standardized EU style. We've seen some older-style drivers licenses from EU countries that are not acceptable.

It will not be "floating around somewhere". We have spend the last year and a half going through the painful process of getting everything in our company to the point of getting TISAX certified and then having all of that work audited by DEKRA.

We don't need your social security number, but we do need the document number of whatever ID you present. In the case of a passport, that would be the passport number. We will be deleting the image you send, but we will retain the following 5 items from it in our database:

• Document Type (passport / national ID card / driver's license / etc)
• Document Number
• Issuing Authority (in your case, most likely Denmark)
• Your Date-of-birth
• Expiration date (and the ID must not be expired!)

Make sure that all of these are on the image that you submit. Usually the front is sufficient, but in a few cases, some of those items are only found on the back.

I have one of the newer standardised EU licenses, so I'll just edit out field 4d which contains the SSN here in Denmark.

The document number (ie. drivers license number) in field 5 is not a concern for me.

It's amusing because US drivers' licenses (which are all issued by the individual States, not the federal government) use the same field numbering scheme, with one major difference: Field 4d is consistently the document number (drivers license number) and field 5 seems to be some random data. The fact that this is the exact reverse of the European standard caused us some consternation at first.
