Good Afternoon

I can't find the answer to this with the search and I am sorry if this has been asked before.

My company currently has 3 different VCDS HEX-Net Unlimited interfaces (not the one I signed up with which is owned by my previous employer).

I have just signed up for SFD using my interface and Toughbook but I also have 2 staff memebers that also have a Toughbook and their own interface, can they use my login and password for this or will I need to buy 3 seperate licences and have everyone signed up too?

Have you read the Terms of Service?

SFD tokens provided via Ross-Tech's software are generated in relation to a specific person and their creation is logged. Any disclosure of user credentials or SFD tokens to third parties is prohibited.

Collective or workshop accounts are not permitted.

This is not our choice, but is required by VW. SFD accesses must be traceable to a specific natural person.

Thanks for the Update Uwe, as long as the cost is reasonable I don't have any objection to this.

The likes of Sermi etc will be coming my way at some point too and I dread having to deal with that as they want ££££££ to do it including jumping through ridiulous hoops on every job. We don't even code or alter anything (not even erasing fault codes) but as we need to check immobilisers etc we need the approvals

Expect 2 more SFD requests from my staff in the next few weeks, all the interfaces are registered to me / my company, will that be an issue?

On another thought how does that dreadful OBD** system get away with unlocking SFD? I bought one just for unlocking the SFD as a trial and we have been using that recently (not for work though it's no VCDS, just to unlock the SFD and plug VCDS back in) but I don't think we had to give any ID information to get that working, have they just hacked the system?

Yes. Interfaces need to be registered in the name of the person who is applying for the SFD Service account.

The registration function has a place for the person's name, and a place for the company name. I suggest using both, so that we have a record that they all belong to the company.

FWIW, I only show two interfaces in your customer record. HN2-xxx274 and H12-xxx950.

I bought one just for unlocking the SFD as a trial and we have been using that recently (not for work though it's no VCDS, just to unlock the SFD and plug VCDS back in) but I don't think we had to give any ID information to get that working, have they just hacked the system?

TBH, I have no idea how they get away with that. We (Ross-Tech) feel we have to do this entirely "by the book".

I was gonna razz you with something like "will your shop ever financially recover from this at $100 per year", but you're cool

I have HN2-***785 with me which is the interface I am personally using.

I will have to check the other interfaces, one is at my office and the other with a member of staff on the other side of the country although the H12 interface you have me registered with sounds like the one I was using when I was employed.

I will ask my staff to register with the forum and then update the account on the tools so it can all be done.

To be fair if I was going to complain about $100 per year that would be reasonable but no complaints at that price.

TBH, I have no idea how they get away with that. We (Ross-Tech) feel we have to do this entirely "by the book".

I suspect it is because they are based in Kaunas, Lithuania. (and not the USA).

And that is another reason I love using your system and why every engineer currently working for me and working for me in the future will have an interface within their kit.

Being able to trust and depend on the tool is very important, I only wish you could support more brands than the VW related makes.
