Polo check engine and multiple fault codes

Hi, so my polo like a year ago got a check engine light and it just low power, like the turbo isnt even working, the check engine light is on and i have like 5 error codes, when this happened the car wasn't even driveable, so i pulled the vacuum hose from the top of the EGR, and it goes somewhat, max like 110, and ive been driving it like this for a year but now i wanna fix it, i tried changing all the relays, checked fuses, not sure what else i tried, one thing that once worked was i was messing around with the wiring below the battery, and i tried erasing the codes, and i erased them, but that only lasted for a day. Then i checked all the wires there but i could not find a damaged wired or anything, so im just clueless at this point, if someone has an idea what it could be?

I am not at work until tomorrow so I can’t check electrical interconnects to the components but I would fit a new fuel pump relay first, clear the codes and see how it drives. This is revised part number 4H0 951 253 A, is fitted at position 4 and has the control group number 53 or 373 printed on top where the new revised part is CGN 643.

I was of the feeling that all the intermittent faults were from experimental unplugging/replugging events. If the fuel pump relay is properly dead it wouldn't start. Poor performance could be EGR or WGFV/N75 related. It could also just be good old fashioned tired/failed turbo.

Suggest to clear all fault codes again and try OUTPUT TESTS for the engine in VCDS with everything connected and report back. That should make the ECU tickle all the outputs one at a time which you can feel and/or hear as a good sanity check that wiring to each actuator is good and it clicks when commanded.

I have changed all the relays below the steering wheel, no luck. Even changed their sockets.

Thing is when i was messing with the wiring, i tried clearing the codes and they cleared, then i reconnected the vacuum hose back and the car worked perfectly, only lasted a day tho.

Maybe EGR is the culprit then (or at least partly guilty), but you need to do ECU output tests and other methodical steps as the answer is not to just replace parts until the problem goes away.

Egr was changed too. But wait Crasher mentioned the 53 relay, I don’t remember if changed that one. Will try another one, also try the output test and I’ll let you know.

Cant buy a relay right now but i did try swapping the socket 4 relay 53 with the same one below it, then tried erasing but it just comes back. Dont think its that relay.

The fuel pump relay isn't connected here BUT the N75, N18 and V157 (plus the G40) share the same power feed from fuse 14 which receives its power from the J317 line 30 relay, which also provides the fuel pump relay power although it also powers the ECU so you would expect more codes or no comms.

The box 37 at current track 85 is from fuse 14, E30 is a welded junction in the harness.
