Hello,

I've owned a Micro Can cable since 2007. It doesn't get used much except for coding changes and fault scans. Most of the time it's when I buy a new car and want to make some changes.

I tried the work arounds that people have posted online and the ones shown in youtube videos but none of them are working for me. I can usually figure things out with some reference material but this time I'm stumped.

I'm using a Dell laptop with Windows 11 64 bit with updates all current. The VCDS software version is 25.3.1 (i backdated from the current release hoping that would solve the issue) but it did not. I did turn off my antivirus/firewall software during the troubleshooting and also unchecked the boxes in Core Isolation.

Here is the message I see whenever trying to test the cable:

VCDS Release 25.3.1: Port Test
Ross-Tech USB Interface Not Found!
USB Library Version 03.02.07
Interface: Not Found!

I don't have a spare laptop to turn into a dedicated Windows 10 machine but have considered making my laptop a dual boot machine. It's not the best option but the hard drive could be partitioned to make it work.

I know about the W11 issue for legacy drivers but I must be missing something.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: Another question, can the new version of cable be used on MkVIII cars or are the so locked down that only a few options can be accessed? I'm thinking about a 2026 Golf R while they are still available.

So you have presumably been to this thread?

But perhaps not this one?

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I'll give it a try.
