Piston did not wind in far enough for Retracting the Brakes (Service Mode)

Open VCDS and click Select Control Module.Choose module 03 - ABS Brakes (on 2014 Audi Allroad a4, trying to replace pads, its in that service mode but the caliper looks extended....er, now what?

And the motor back there did run and then stop on its own.

The push back piston method only applies to ATE calipers, not the TRW type used in the subject vehicle. If you wind back ATE calipers, it destroys the internals.

Also, if you try and push back a TRW caliper, it won’t move.

Oy, well, I didn't think to know there were "special" procedures for EPB, I could loosen up the pads so thought, its ready to change em, when I took the caliper off, no problem but then it would not move to wider for the new pads....so then I see there is a control in vcds to move it to servicing, so I just found it and pushed the button....So, not sure what to do next....unbolt the motor driver for the piston and just get it back on? Only one side is off at the moment. This is in the USA, not a euro version.

At this point I have the other wheel off, the brake is holding the pads fast (Ithink), SO, I'll take off the motor driving the left hand brake, manually unwind the brake, counting the winds as I didn't do that on the other side which I think I'll have to jack up again too, with both jacked, and wheels off I'll then try and sort out the EPB...after I change the pads on the left. I did plug in the car for charging. These are TRW motors and I did wind the right side all the way clockwise before I reattached the motor....no buttons have been pushed since the earlier episode and I shut it all down yesterday with it in the line maintenance mode that I had enabled in the PBR control panel.
