Hello from Mercer PA: ran into a snag with the ABS module. I have had this car for 15 years and this is the first problem I haven't been able to sort. The issues became apparent on 8/3/2026.
I painted the hood and roof and it sat for a couple weeks during the process. As a consequence, it suffered a bout of low battery voltage and I had to jump the car (the car had power but not enough to start). When this has happened in the past with low voltage or a disconnected battery, the steering wheel, ABS, and EPS lights come on but go out once I drive the car down the road. But not this time.
To clarify what occurred just prior to the faults:
1. Painted car-- car sat unused for 2 weeks
2. Low battery voltage leading to a no start and a jump
3. I deleted the sat/nav shark fin antenna -- not needed/obsolete and didn't want to reinstall on fresh paint (clear coat). I also broke some of its plastic terminals. But it can be reinstalled with some tape on the terminals.
As of now (8/6), both ABS and EPS lights won't go out. For some reason, the ABS lost its soft coding and all zeros appeared in the coding section. I found my coding from a previous scan. I entered it and it was accepted, but it continues to throw the 01044 code no matter what I do. I did go into the CAN gateway and deleted digital radio. NAV was already unchecked. I checked that it wasn't listed under long coding either. The antenna's part number is 1k5 035 507 E.
The vehicle's VIN is not appearing in the scan which is also different from previous scans. 3VWST71K46M719103
It looks like the radio sat/nav might be the issue as stupid as it sounds because it is a module-- just not a major body module? 01044 appears under 56 radio and 01044 appears under 03 ABS Brakes.
It has been a tool throwing and hair pulling episode. Help appreciated
