Not yet but I have found the ECU plug pin outs for power, ground and can bus. Thanks for the direction. Much better than initial replies and subsequent responses in this thread. I'm just trying to figure out how to resolve my very strange wiring faults. I don't need to get into a fighting match about methodologies. I just want direction and guidance. Isn't that what forums are about? https://www.transpondery.com/pinouts/vag/edc17/edc17_cp44_pinout.html

Confirmed you have faults, but last time I checked this was a VCDS forum not a forum for any other tool. Throwing information from other tools will not get you anywhere. If anything it's just going to piss people off. You wouldn't go to a restaurant and bring your own steak and have them cook it would you? I would recommend to stick to VCDS.
Sir, I posted all of my auto scan in my initial thread, I received no response, which I understand because I did not follow forum protocol in the title, I attempted to fix the title, however that is not an editable option. Perhaps something that should be elevated the the forum admins. But my initial post contained all relevant information plus more for the standard protocol.

What would you like the title of this thread to be?

You would need all high speed CAN bus schematic and oscilloscope.

That sir is extremely helpful. I am not afraid of wiring diagrams. Having grafted a mk4 engine harness to a CE2 fuse block. That is exactly what I was looking for thank you so much. It's at the dealership now, hopefully they can diagnose and pinpoint where the fault might be. I keep nd of feel icky and betraying but I just don't have the time at this point in my life. Thank you again!

The technician got back to me today and this is what was deduced:

Hey there, the technician finished his diagnosis. Using an oscilloscope, he was able to monitor the wave form coming out of the ECM when communication was good versus when we were losing communication. He found that when we are losing communication, the can high coming from the ECM is flatlining. When this happens the system switches to single wire mode which triggers the fault and causes the can low side to run poorly because it can't handle the signal. He did pull the pins for the canbus, which also have signals from the airbag system and from the transmission, and didn't have any issues with those other two systems so we know it's not a wiring issue. The technician is recommending replacement of the ECM based off of his diagnosis. I will send you over an estimate for that. I did check with parts and the OEM ECM is on back order unfortunately with no ETA at the moment.

Not sufficient to declare ecm. Two questions need answering:
1. Was the ecm taken out of the can network, yes or no answer.
2. If yes, did the network restored to normal between remaining modules, yes or no?

If you got two yes, it could be ecm. Any single no, insufficient diagnostic.

LOL... the dealer wants to load up a costly ECU... they don't want to troubleshoot properly.... more money to be made using their approach.
