That's a commonly held falsehood - for many many years now vehicles have had a centre brake light, so when brakes are on there are THREE lights visible, meaning that TWO rear fog lights cannot be confused with THREE brake lights.

Which makes only having one fog light or going to the lengths to make it look like it has the extra one rather than just disabled.

If you cant see the difference on the fog lights and the brake lights I would think you need glasses. Besides the placement of said fog lights wouldn't make sense for a brake light, as they are too far towards the middle of the car.

That statement will not hold up in the US. Rear fog lights are rare, even on European cars being sold here.

We don't do much to ensure drivers have good vision. My license says I need glasses/contacts but no vision test was needed to get that license. I just told them yes when asked the question. That was the same in 4 states where I've had a license. Not once have I been asked to read a chart to see if the glasses I was wearing were effective. If I had gone in there without my glasses on they may not have asked at all.

And we certainly aren't taught where it makes sense to have brake lights. Our vehicle light regulations are terrible.

I have 2 rear fog lights in my equipment. (So I assume that the cables should be there) So I'll physically check it.
And if the cables are stretched there, Then just let the service upload the dataset.
PS: When I go to update the Park Assist Plus software - I'll tell them.

I need to pull both lights to get the OEM numbers so I can be certain there actually is a foglight in the actual lamp. Otherwise there is no point in pulling a wire across etc.

My Son has a Mk6 Golf, only one foglight and only one reversing light (opposite side) as does my Wife's 2023Audi Q2, my S4 has one either side.

I'm fairly sure there is no provision to fit a bulb in the other side of the Golf. Being UK (RHD) models the foglight is on the RH side, LHD versions would be the other way round. Presumably you could fit a light cluster from the other version to double up? though, in doing so you might lose the reversing light...

I have a US 2019 7.5 Golf R, I got the Euro dynamic led tail lights and dual fogs, but I had to get a custom harness to use them. It's been a long time since I did this, so didn't quite remember exactly what was involved. I looked up a few things, and found this old post in a forum.

At least in the US, you can see that the dual fog, was just another wire ran to the same channel. I know the ROW wiring is different, which is why the custom harness was necessary for the NAR cars, but my guess is that your car may not have a separate wire/channel for the fog light.

I know that I also had to specifically order the rear light with the fog in it, both the left and right, they weren't automatically in the normal lights. I think that from the factory they only come with the one side fog light, if it was offered (not in the US). The only reason I can think of why they had tail lights that had fog lights in both sides, might be for left vs right hand drive models?

So I have some information about the rear fog lights and reversing lights. There are (4x LED lights) 2x fog lights and 2x reversing lights installed there. Each separately. But the lights cannot be reached, they are screwed on from the inside and cannot be seen (only screws) and the entire strip is glued on from the outside.
I took off the fifth door trim. There are 2 connectors visible on each side, and they have the same number of cables, 5 on each side. So the wiring is stretched to the 4x LED lights. So I think it should be turned on in Customization. If anyone knows what to change, I would be happy to help.

But I was surprised when I tried turning on the reverse and the fog light together with the reverse. It behaved strangely.
When I just turned on the reverse lights, both of them lit up as they should. But when I turned on the rear fog light, the left reverse light turned off, so only the left fog light and the right reverse light were on, which seems strange to me. Both reverse lights should remain on.
