Fault clearing, true or false

I don't know where to post this question.
Short story. On my Cupra born's dash some red light appeared. I scaned for faults, just scan, no fault has been cleared. Car has been taken to the official service and they could not find any fault. According to them, car was ok. Then I explained them about fault check by my self and which errors were present... and their answer was, you shouldnt't read faults. System knows that they were already read and are not visible anymore. Of course VCDS scan showed them again...
So, question, true or false, that after scan only, faults are invisible for official tool?

If the faults are not cleared they still should be visible to any suitable tool including the VW ODIS as far as I am aware. The "official service" could not find a fault despite an error light on the dash ?

If there's a red light on the dash then absolutely ODIS should show the code.

For some more informative codes ODIS doesn't by default show them, but VCDS always shows ALL codes.

There may be an ounce of truth in their pound of bullshit; if you read the fault codes with ODIS, ODIS will typically clear all DTCs at the end of the diagnostic session. VCDS will never clear codes without being specifically asked to do so (and confirmed).
