Buying Piwis is way to expensive (approx 6K)

Does take some 12 months to get authorised though - well worth the wait !

As a commercial venture it is as cheap as chips.

Earning 100 a day from it and it will have wiped its nose in 12 weeks - Just doing simple Diagnostic procedures.
OK, by comparing it to ODIS, it's really expensive, OK, probably no flatrate needed but that ODIS construction (and a 25% salesprice) i would consider buy Piwis for the few Porsches i do service on.

Agreed buddy !

Ideal for a Mobile operator that can service many Garage and Private individuals as a contractor.

Being on the Edge of London, a Lucrative hood, the work is there.

$300 to $400 for as an upgrade in a situation like this. Because odds are, that's what the dealer is going to cost just to code the new battery once
As OP wrote, he would be happy to part with that to code a battery !

I would drive to him and gladly do it for 295+ Vat - He has the advantage of watching what I do knowing it is done !

This company has been around for a long time and they offer an enthusiast level Porsche scanner for $287-347 depending on OBD2 socket style. It looks like to actually code that you would need the more expensive professional level scanner.

Durametric unfortunatly is only for the older models, ive worked with it, price is good though.

Right. @Andy has a 2007 (?) 911 and uses it for that car.

Yeah my 2007 is a 997.1 and pre-dates any VW module sharing so VCDS doesn't work with it, beyond Generic OBD2.

I have used Durametric with some degree of success. Honestly I haven't done any mods with it, just checking overrevs, reading and clearing fault codes, resetting maintenance reminders, etc. I keep a tiny Windows 8.1 tablet inside the owner's manual in the glovebox, just for using Durametric if needed.

I just tried to do an Auto Scan with VCDS on a 2018 Porsche 911, and it seemed to work at first then failed complaining it was missing the needed rod files.
Please make an Autoscan and post it here.

I'll add another vote for PoCOM.

It offers Battery Replacement on 991.2 models (2018):

It provides the same coverage and functions as Durametric Pro, in addition to supporting 2018-current year models.
