Hi All,
Having trouble with this A7 with the "death countdown"
Car originally had the following DTC's (sorry did not save the original auto-scan)
-P0401 EGR insufficient flow
-P229F Nox sensor rear circuit range/performance
-P20F4 Nox reductant consumption too low (Won't clear)
-P207F Reductant quality performance (Won't clear)
This is the most recent:
The following repairs have been made, all with OE parts from the dealer
1. Replaced a faulty reductant pump. (Pump was not building pressure, 30hpa. I have 5000hpa with the new pump)
2. Replaced the EGR cooler. (P0401 no longer sets after multiple test drives)
3. Drained and filled SCR tank with Ad blue from the dealer
After those 3 repairs, I performed the following:
-SCR metering quantity test. (Filled my measuring cup to 30ml)
-Resetting of SCR tank level detection
-Reset SCR lock
-Resetting of learning values for reductant agent metering system
-SCR efficiency test
The problem I am having is I cannot get the LTA for reductant dosing to reset. Looking through other posts I believe this number should be at 1. This car is at 4.16 which I believe is way too high. I've taken it for multiple, long test drives (50+ miles) at steady cruise on the freeway.
Some data I observed while testing:
-During SCR efficiency test:
Reductant injector activation 6-9% (would cycle from 0 to 6-9%)
Reductant pump pressure 5000hpa
SCR catalyst temp 290-310C
Nox1-290ppm
Nox2-50ppm
-During long test drive on freeway (steady cruise):
Reductant injector activation 0-70% (would usually cycle from 0-10% but would go up to 70% depending on throttle)
Reductant pump pressure 5000hpa
SCR catalyst temp 310C
Nox1- 80ppm
Nox2- 300 to 400ppm
After seeing the Nox readings on my multiple test drives I decided to install a new rear Nox sensor (OE from the dealer). Pretty much the same Nox readings as previous test drives, and the LTA for reductant dosing does not get much better. I'm thinking the SCR catalyst is bad??? Not sure of a good way to prove it, or if there is something else I'm missing...
Side note:
The customer has a obd2 code reader sitting on the seat. I did find out by just checking for DTCs, the SCR lock will reset. Thinking maybe that is how they were "getting by" for awhile. Possibly damaged the SCR catalyst? Or skewed the adaptions so badly they cannot be reset?

The following repairs have been made, all with OE parts from the dealer
1. Replaced a faulty reductant pump. (Pump was not building pressure, 30hpa. I have 5000hpa with the new pump)
2. Replaced the EGR cooler. (P0401 no longer sets after multiple test drives)
3. Drained and filled SCR tank with Ad blue from the dealer
After those 3 repairs, I performed the following:
-SCR metering quantity test. (Filled my measuring cup to 30ml)
-Resetting of SCR tank level detection
-Reset SCR lock
-Resetting of learning values for reductant agent metering system
-SCR efficiency test
The problem I am having is I cannot get the LTA for reductant dosing to reset. Looking through other posts I believe this number should be at 1. This car is at 4.16 which I believe is way too high. I've taken it for multiple, long test drives (50+ miles) at steady cruise on the freeway.
Some data I observed while testing:
-During SCR efficiency test:
Reductant injector activation 6-9% (would cycle from 0 to 6-9%)
Reductant pump pressure 5000hpa
SCR catalyst temp 290-310C
Nox1-290ppm
Nox2-50ppm
-During long test drive on freeway (steady cruise):
Reductant injector activation 0-70% (would usually cycle from 0-10% but would go up to 70% depending on throttle)
Reductant pump pressure 5000hpa
SCR catalyst temp 310C
Nox1- 80ppm
Nox2- 300 to 400ppm
After seeing the Nox readings on my multiple test drives I decided to install a new rear Nox sensor (OE from the dealer). Pretty much the same Nox readings as previous test drives, and the LTA for reductant dosing does not get much better. I'm thinking the SCR catalyst is bad??? Not sure of a good way to prove it, or if there is something else I'm missing...
Side note:
The customer has a obd2 code reader sitting on the seat. I did find out by just checking for DTCs, the SCR lock will reset. Thinking maybe that is how they were "getting by" for awhile. Possibly damaged the SCR catalyst? Or skewed the adaptions so badly they cannot be reset?
