I've been chasing this issue for a while on and off. I'm getting P0367 signal low, and once in a while P0366 implausible signal on the exhaust cam sensor (Sensor B, Bank 1).
Latest round was getting multiple misfires so was hoping the plugs were the issue, new plugs, no more misfires but still codes.
I've swapped the sensors around to see if it followed it and was confident that it didn't, but that was a long time ago so I just did it again today. Stays in the position and doesn't follow the sensor. Harnesses that I can see and connectors look fine, but I can see usually a drop in the reading but there is a spike in it too. I haven't quite gotten to the point of back probing the +5v/Ground/Output or jumping them from a different source or the ECM directly to bypass the wiring.
I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this before? I don't think the oil control would make it spike, or worse a physical problem with the engine. I have 133k miles and the timing belt is original but very much on my radar. I'm thinking if the belt was weird I'd get issues on both cams, and it would drop/spike versus just be wrong and have other drivability problems. Except during the drops/spikes, engine is smooth. When the EPC light is on can't go over 3k RPM as expected. Seems to have full power otherwise around that. Car has been in the family since new, oil changes at 5k since 40k on the odo, was 10k before that at the dealer. Now I do them myself. Always use Castrol 5w-30 Euro.
