I purchased the Hex V2 for my 2014 VW TDI Beetle. I am not a pro, but I’m doing a pretty extensive build. I am running windows 11 but all my computers are USB 3.0.

I cannot get VCDS to recognize any controllers. When I plug the usb in my computers aren’t identifying the device. It shows as a generic USB and not by name. I don’t think it is installing the appropriate driver. I have tried this on two different t computers. I have replaced the USB-A to B cord. I have taken power management off of all USBs.

I downloaded the VCDS software from the website and installed as directed. I was able to get the software to identify the hardware and saved it. Still no controllers found and auto scan won’t work.

I have been working on this for the better part of a day so any help is appreciated.

Where did you purchase the HEX-V2 from? A genuine HEX-V2 does not need drivers installed as it uses native Windows drivers.

What is the serial number on the label on your HEX-V2?

What are the results when you hit Options -> Test?

I went through every video out there. I installed a few times. Battery is hooked to a maintainer, key is on, changed the power settings on the USB hub, tried to update firmware. I am going to start all over so i can document with you guys. I know its tough to troubleshoot when its not clean

Test Results. Not hooked to car. I am at work so i will have to try with the car at lunch. However, this is how it looked before. Everything looked good, but I couldnt get it to find any controllers. I started with the engine controller because we needed to bleed the fuel lines. I will hook to vehicle at lunch and post the results. Thank you all for your help.

As you can see, the interface is being "detected", so now you need to do the same, and show the Port Test results with it plugged into the vehicle.

BTW this is what the hardware is showing up as in device manager. In researching my issue I noticed that alot of people were seeing it show up as "RossTech ......" Where the hardware was identified. I plug in the device and my computers never identify it other than this. That is what i was thinking the issue was initially.

Why are you sweating what the Windblows Device Manager labels it? It has zero bearing on anything related to VCDS or its functionality.

Our current interfaces are HID devices, and do not require traditional drivers. Our older interfaces used specific drivers and would show up as a Ross-Tech device in the description.

That looks fine. You already know this, but next we need to see that same thing when it's plugged into the car.

DLC issue by the looks of it... no CAN coms. Check DLC pins & wiring against factory wiring diagram.

Also possible: Wiring problem between DLC and Gateway, or Gateway non-responsive due to a power problem or outright failure of Gateway.

The vehicle starts and idles fine. Could it do that with a completely non responsive gateway? I am going to check all the DLC pins and ohms to gateway this evening.
