Updating firmware to CB0.4701 and its taking some time , do i need to be plugged into a car ?

No, firmware updates only need the cable to be plugged into a PC with internet access and VCIconfig running.

No, I don't believe so. But you do need a internet connection on your PC and the USB connection.
Yeah Internet good , got halfway and still running , ill leave it for a while and get the dinner on lol
The applying update bar was showing halfway but when I increased the size of the page I seen the transferring bar working below it , ill now give it time to complete , cheers guys
Is this a HEX-NET or your HEX-V2?
A HEX-V2 really shouldn't take more than a minute or two.
A HEX-NET can take quite some time depending on how much of the VCDS-Mobile data needs to get updated, but there's an option to skip that if you don't use VCDS-Mobile with your HEX-NET.
