Time to move your EV! ;)

It would be technically difficult to implement but I have always said that EV owners care about their SoC more than money so it it transferred 1% from vehicle to grid for every minute you overstay your parking, folks would move right quick.

Time to dump my Polestar 3, picked up the new ride today. Reserved it on the day it was announced, got invited to configure it a few weeks ago and picked up today.

Catalina Cove, 21" with all-seasons, black interior, Launch Edition. 656hp, 609 lb-ft, 0-60 in 3.56 seconds.

How is this really any different than the jerk who fills his ICE vehicle at the pump at a busy fuel station, then leaves it there, blocking that pump while he goes inside the store to go to the bathroom and buy some snacks?

This drives me into fits of rage, especially when it's a gas car, at one of the only two islands (out of 10 or 12) that have diesel, when I need to fill my truck.

I never, ever leave a vehicle at the pump when I go inside. I move it to a regular parking space first! Blocking the a pump when you're not actually fueling the vehicle totally inconsiderate/rude.

This is what a bad day looks like... :(
Sure. EVs and salt water surely don't mix well. But that story certainly has some bias/hate:
The company, which is owned by Elon Musk
Uhm, Tesla has been a publicly traded company since 2010 and Elon owns less than 20% of it.

It's the resulting damage for me that is sad. Don't care what brand of EV. Probably would occur with any Li-ion batteries.

In principle, it shouldn't. Water shouldn't be able to get into the pack at all, period.

Now salt water can surely cause all kinds of damage to the electrical system in the rest of the car, but the pack itself shouldn't catch fire from that; if the car is parked, the main battery contactor should be open and no amount of external short circuits or whatever should cause it to close. So in this particular case, my sense is that either there's something defective about Tesla's design, or the battery had been previously damaged in some way that water was able to get into it.

That any vehicle can fail in that manner is unacceptable and another example of how Eco Cancer has eaten into our lives.

Still Level 2 and unable to handle heavy rain, fog, snow but it can drive 85 mph in a 70 mph speed zone. :banghead:

I wonder what the driver does with his plate full of food when he needs to immediately take control of the car just before a crash occurs????? The Feds also want to know about the speed violation option.

That is nothing more than admission of failure in that Li-ion batteries are intrinsically unsafe.... that is if it isn't a wind up.

Not sure about the axial flux motor design but the beginning 4 minutes or so on the industry and talking heads is accurate IME.

one other concern I have thought about with self driving cars is people hijacking’s them by walking out in front of them, knowing the car will automatically stop, then allowing the occupants to be attacked.

A sign of the times??? :(
One downside of DC fast charging is that you can't do this if you're attacked:

This isn't just self-driving cars. Don't Euro regulations require automatic braking and pedestrian detection for new cars now?
