Was in Italy a couple of weeks ago, many petrol stations still have an attendant or, at least a choice between using an attendant at €2.40/L or DIYing at €1.95/L.
Presumably, some people are happy to pay 20% more to not get their hands dirty...
In one of our 50 states (New Jersey) the law still requires a "trained attendant" to dispense gasoline.
However, attendants have learned that motorcyclists really hate that and will usually hand the nozzle over to the rider to let him fill his tank himself.
Most everywhere else, you'd be hard pressed to find a gas station that isn't fully self-serve.

You think EVs have range anxiety? Try some long distance travel on a motorcycle on US highways (not interstates!) out west, in places like Nevada, Utah, and Arizona, where it can be 100+ miles between towns and gas stations. "We filled up at the last town, only 110 miles ago!" Doesn't matter. We're filling up again, 'cause I surely don't wanna run out of gas here:

I ride a 2021 Harley-Davidson FLSB Sport Glide. It has a 5-gallon tank with ~200 miles of range at ~45MPG (factoring in a small safety margin). I try not to go more than about 120 miles between fill-ups because it has a known issue that the fuel gauge can be... inaccurate, to say the least. I've already replaced it once because it would claim empty when there was still 2+ gallons left in the tank!
Try that for range anxiety!
Range anxiety is a real thing! I had a BMW R75 back in the 70's. I managed to run out of gas on a freeway on the east side of Cleveland. Had to push it for a couple of miles to get off the freeway and finally to a gas station. I was new to the bike at that time and clearly wasn't thinking fuel getting low. That was all the lesson I needed to ensure it never happened again!

If you have only half the average IQ, you only run out of fuel once in your life.
What if you are 67 years old and have never, ever run out of fuel? I'm assuming that having to flip the petcock to the reserve position does not count as running out.

Tesla FSD in the US has several modes, ranging from "Chill" to "Mad Max". The latter turns the car into a cop magnet."I wasn't driving..." DUH!

If a car manufacturer offered a internal combustion car with a mode such as Mad Max or insane mode, whatever it was called, the press would rip them to pieces but just because it is an EV, they get away with it.
IMO, it would be better if FSD simply offered a setting for, "Do not exceed the speed limit by X%" where the value of X can be selected between 0 and 15%. If you want more than that, drive the car yourself.

That's really not a fix. Speed limits are also speed targets. A vehicle traveling slower than the surrounding traffic is just as much of a hazard as a vehicle traveling faster than the surrounding traffic. Problem is, most traffic will exceed the speed limit given the opportunity. The safest driver is the one that matches the speed of the vehicles around them. Software-governing a vehicle to not exceed the posted limit is dangerous.I fixed it for ya...

Not if the nanny state imposes it on all cars. Europe in kinda headed in that direction from what I've heard.

IME people exceed the speed limits around town so that they can sit longer at the next red traffic light and f*ck with their phone. I see this constantly.
As far as setting the speed limits for the "lowest skill level" I think that's partially true because most people refuse to take driving seriously. In city environments you would not necessarily want 60 mph speed limits but I literally see people driving these speeds almost daily on 40 mph roadways. And yes I 100% agree people who obstruct traffic by driving at excessively low speeds compared to the posted speed limit are dangerous. In some locales they are actually issuing tickets to these people.
Prior to 1989 and the reunification Western Germany was a real pleasure to drive in IME. Drivers were skilled and respected the laws. They understood that a driver's license was a privilege and obligation. In the U.S. everyone is entitled to a driver's license even if they lack the skills and mental ability. It's like a combat zone in many places IME.
