At Porsche they use robots intelligently for specific work where robots work best like automated welding of chassis panels, precision placement of windscreens, etc.. VW and other higher volume auto makers IME use them wherever they can to replace humans - not always with ideal outcomes. Robots are improving in abilities. There needs to be a balance of use as appropriate, IMO.

And of course people are going to claim it was the car when they know full well it wasn't; it will be a battle for both sides to prove either way and once lots of people claim it was the car, not them, it will descend into chaos. Those of you "over there" old enough to remember, will recall the Audi unintended acceleration debacle of the 80's which nearly killed Audi in the US even after it was proved to be the drivers stamping on the go pedal.
I do not believe Autopilot would be moving at that speed on that street. However, I'm not sure what happens in a Tesla that's running on Autopilot if you floor the accelerator. @Santos?
Brick house? Surely you're aware that modern McMansions like that are wood frame and the brick is just cladding? Also, it looks like the car went right through a window.

100% Tesla will investigate this and say it's not their fault. I'm not casting blame either way, but I am saying Tesla has an established practice of having Autopilot disengage if it detects a crash is unavoidable just so that they can pull up the crash data and show that Autopilot wasn't operating at the moment of impact, that way they can disclaim any and all liability.
Of course I know that brick is just a veneer but look at the size of the hole. It didn't just crash thru the wall it took out a lot of wall beyond the vehicle. Ka-BLAMO!

YES some humans do that but the whole point of Robotaxis is they are NOT supposed to do that. They are NOT supposed to drive into standing water stranding the vehicle and occupants. They are NOT supposed to drive into road construction sites, etc.
Incorrect. The whole point of Robotaxis is that their operator doesn't have to pay a driver.

We're all paying when it comes down to it...
What we don't need/want is a fleet of driverless vehicles on the roadways that have limited abilities based on the lowest capable human vehicle operator. Those are folks unsafe to be operating a motorized vehicle. We already see the problems when Robotaxis hallucinate and stop or turn where they should not and cops and emergency vehicle operators are unable to move them out of the way.
