And you think this has nothing to do with the deepening political crisis in Canada? Me thinks the Honda investors are looking at the issues there and saying.... "whoa horsey! Let's have another look around!"

Honda have canned all the EV projects so they don't need a new battery plant anywhere.

Pretty much everyone with possibly the excesption of Toyota has made a major EV pullback because sales have dropped dramatically. There appears to be a significant transition to hybrids and in many cases to reviving ICE powered vehicles.

Yet, in the face of clearly obvious information, VW keep plunging ahead on pure EV’s… I fear it will lead to the death of the company; I can see VAG being bought out by the CCP but of course they will promise not to move production from Germany, just as Geley did by not moving Volvo production out of Sweden… :banghead:

So far the Euro car makers believe they have no choice because zero emission vehicles are being mandated.

While adoption of EVs is higher in Urrup, I'm guessing there is going to be a large scale protest pushing back the termination of ICE vehicles another 10-15 years because most blue collar commuters are not in a position to buy/operate an expensive EV - even if the base price is $30K before 19% VAT. Home charging is still relatively expensive in much of Urrup. Having to replace a $10K battery and/or paying higher insurance due to battery fires isn't for those with lower incomes - especially when they can get 40-50 mpg with a clean diesel.

I doubt VW will go under but the company may look much different in 5-10 years if they continue to bet the farm on EVs only.

Toyota was never big on EVs to begin with. I don't remember how many years ago it was, but their CEO said (paraphrased) "We don't think that EVs are what most of the market will want." He got lambasted over this statement, but it turns out he was right.

Yes, let's fine a domestic business out of business because its consumers aren't buying its products. Punish a business for the choices of its customers. That makes sense.

Yup VW is being punished because most of it's customers and most Euro customers want ICE power not EVs being mandated by talking head politicians promoting lies about EVs being zero emission and imposing laws based on those lies. That's why I believe there will eventually be a revolt. You can fool some of the people some of the time but...

And still, VAG (who own Porsche) keep plunging down the same blinkered calamitous route, it’s like they feel that if they only make EV’s, people will reluctantly buy them anyway. For none car type people with zero brand or national loyalty, those who want/can live with an EV aren’t going to pay premium Europrices and just buy Chinese Communist crap.

But wait... now we have an exciting new way to sell EVs to enthusiasts. ;)
Purists will absolutely argue about whether fake shifts belong in a GTI,
This purist will insist that a GTI needs three pedals and a manual transmission; that even a DSG is just plain wrong in a GTI.

I definitely miss my 3 pedals surf green GTI. Replaced it with a 3 pedals reflex silver R32 (which I also miss!)

So does that mean fake shifts in an EV aren't going to sell the GTI Clubsport????? ;)

Certainly not to me.

Mind you, I rather like what I've seen of the ID. Polo, but I doubt we'll ever see it in the NAR market.

And as for fake sounds: I have a 2016 Golf R (6MT of course) and it came with a "Soundaktor". One of the first things I did was turn that nonsense OFF. If I really wanted more sound, I would find a way to get more real sound, via intake or exhaust mods.

Of course that's not practical in an EV. My attitude with that is: If you're going to sell EVs, don't pretend they're something they are not.
