After receiving P0673 code, I tested the glowplugs and confirmed that the no. 3 definitely had a short circuit. I decided to replace all 4 glowplugs and used Standard GP119 from O'Reilly's. Now I am getting circuit faults on all 4 glowplugs. The engine accelerates smoothly. However, when running at a constant speed, I get some pulsation in engine power.

AI tells me to replace the glow plug control module, which I plan on doing next week.

Does it sound like the control module is bad? Did I make a mistake in selecting the Standard GP119 brand of glowplugs?

Also, during a cold start the engine struggles to start, thus I do not believe the glow plugs are doing their job.

Put the old glow lugs in and what happens -Do the 3 good ones still work ??

Measure resistance of the new ones and compare to the old known good.

Then you should follow AI advice. Be sure to get the cheapest nastiest one available just like the glow plugs !!

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you! ;)

Seriously, do not buy electrical parts for your VW from eBay, Amazon, or any of the chain auto parts stores. Trusted vendors that specialize in VAG, or the dealer only.
