Resolved BCM replacement?

Hi people,

I have golf mk6 2009, currently I have midline BCM that isn't supporting LED lights, DRL's etc. I am planning to upgrade to BCM 1K0 937 087 Q, this one is from Skoda Octavia, is it the same one, can it fit normally to Golf 6, I know other steps where I have to copy the old long code to new BCM

2dn - 087 BCM support ONLY Xenon shutter for typical / basic Xenon lamp - vis 086 no Xenon shutter

There is no cold diagnosis on this BCM, there is no option to disable cold/hot diagnosis, I checked on many sides it's been confirmed that 086 is not supporting it, 087 Q is not same as 087, Q supports literally all functions since it is the highline and rated as the best of one

You can use 087 BCM, this is Highline+ Version

EEprom Edit is just that - If you know you know - Else go google! Hexidecimal, Asci - Geeky stuff !

It is open Surgery, Literally altering the DNA of the component as opposed to VCDS, Drop Down Lists etc.

You probably could if you get access to the eeprom and edit it. Which may involve lifting the SMD.

As for with a scntool then it may have a strategy to stop you. Having said that it may have a strategy to revert even if you edit it manually !! This is the world of experiment r&d then reverse engineering !!! Have fun

That is for you to calculate !! I have no clue as i dont get involved in these misdemeanours. I just buy the car I can afford, or afford to finance.

If i get some bits wrong I just treat it as a child -Love it for what it is ! The car I have now-It took 6 years of searching to find it and i reckon I paid a £2k premium to make it mine.

Upgrading a BCM is not a big thing and not an expensive option but gives your car to fully support all electronics

You’ll still have to edit the eeprom memory to configure the lighting settings.

VAGHelper was a tool that had a good BCM Lighting Configurator, but of course you still needed to obtain your stock file. Either with ODIS E or VCP.

Does any know if coding byte 18 can fix an issue with led tail lights, I had halogen headlights before, and what code is for byte 18 to get it's proper functionality?

I just upgraded BCM into a new 087 Q H110, this one is from 2012 year and there is no difference between my old 086 midline BCM and this current one 087 Q H110 adaptations and long coding, I need advice regarding security access if it is needed to access some hidden functions. I will provide autoscan below and controller channel map, one autoscan is from old BCM and another is from new one. Bulbs are working fine but it's reporting on dash they aren't.

Hello,

I received your PM and I have the e-mail that was sent to support. If this was an incandescent tail light -to- factory/OEM parts VW LED tail light assembly retrofit you would take the original coding and modify Byte 18 for the replacement original equipment LED tail lights. The exact Byte 18 value for VW LED tail lights would be specific to the SWL of the BCM however HEX 02 was the most likely factory value hiding under the zeros in the original BCM.

Since you have a significantly newer BCM installed I would test HEX 15 first providing this isn't a matter of aftermarket LED bulbs in the factory tall lights. That would change the coding from the original value of:

Before you tinker with Byte 18 please provide more info on the bulbs that have been converted to LEDs in addition to the tail light details.
