Hello,

I'm looking to retrofit 6-button steering wheel to my Jetta and the highline black & white instrument cluster and I wanted to make sure I have all the correct parts for this conversion and if I need anything else (my car did not come with MFSW).
  • Steering Wheel: 1K8419091
  • Module: 1K0953549CH (the current module I have in the car is 1K0953549CP)
  • Instrument Cluster: 1K8920874 (the current cluster I have in the car is 1K0920954S)
  • Instrument Cluster Adapter 36 to 32 Pins Plug cable
Also, I wanted to know if a climatic to climatronic would be a difficult conversion to do. If yes, I was thinking about retrofitting the climatic w/ heated seats buttons from the facelift MK5 Jetta/MK6 but not sure which parts I need.

Thanks :)

Can you please explain what are these transponders and where they should be installed?

Please repost WITHOUT editing, the header information is important.
And just as important, @daniel20vt Please do not use the [Print] function in VCDS to post data here. The formatting it produces is intended for a sheet-fed printer, but it's much harder to read here than the native text that VCDS produces. That native text can be had using the [Copy] button in VCDS, or by opening any of the .txt files in your Logs or Scans sub-folder with Notepad and then copying the data to paste here.

I reposted the auto scan with the header.

@Uwe I found the .txt autoscan file in the Scans folder and repasted it. Is that how it should look like?

Can you please explain what are these transponders and where they should be installed?
Transponders are in the keys.

TBH, I'm a bit surprised that new transponders would be needed, but I've never done a cluster swap like that either. It seems to me that if a proper identity transfer is done, then the existing transponders should work? Perhaps @EuroX or @Jetta 97 can confirm or deny?

No transponders should be needed In my opinion. If all the data was transferred from one dash to the other it should be just adaption of key to the dash. No need to for new transponders. I have done a dash swap on 2012 and 2016 jettas. All that was needed was CS and pin to adapt existing keys no need for new transponders.

If all that was done was a dash swap and only CP was removed and no data was transferred then yes 2 new transponders/keys will be needed. However such a swap in this vehicle is very easy so why would someone not do things the right way to begin with?

Thank you for the information. Sounds like it's unlikely the transponders will be needed, but in case they will be needed, are they usually sold with a VW part number that I can order online/through VW dealership?

As far as the module goes, is the CH the version I should be using? Is it fully compatible with the slip ring I have in the car?

Yes keys can be purchased through dealership yes In that instance the keys will have the vehicles CS already written into them so there is still a matter of adapting them to the vehicle. However if the data was not transferred to the donor dash keys from the dealership will use useless because CS will not match CS in the dash. So unless CS and all relevant data was transferred to donor dash keys from dealership will not help you. In that case aftermarket keys that are completely blank would be needed or keys would have to be ordered to the CS stored in the donor dash but then the key will not be cut correctly either. Again there is a right and wrong way to do such a swap on these vehicles. Nara.

Any help on the control module would be highly appreciated. Per the control module version chart, the module I have in the car (CP) does not have the steering angle sensor. Does it mean I will need to CD version for the MK6 steering wheel to work since it also does not have the steering angle sensor, or the CH version will work fine even though it does have the steering angle sensor?

I'm scratching my head over that. You have an MK60EC1 ABS. I wouldn't think that ABS would be happy w/o a steering angle sensor in the steering wheel?

I wouldn't think that ABS would be happy w/o a steering angle sensor in the steering wheel?
The SAS is only needed for ESP / Stability Control

- It tells the module which way the driver would like to go and then the Yaw, Longitudinal, Lateral etc, tell the module the actual direction.

Pure and Simple ABS has no use for the SAS.

You have an MK60EC1 ABS.
Does that module ^ Come with ESP ? Standard, Optional or not at all - I don't know !

Correct, but have you ever seen an MK6EC1 ABS module that didn't include ESP? I mean it has all the other sensors for ESP internal. ESP is the only reason why it exists. Cars that didn't come with ESP used less expensive ABS modules such as the MK70.

In this case it will need new transponders and custom built CS , 2009 has 7 byte CS vs 12 byte CS in mk6 cluster. I have done this retrofit long time ago in my car .

Uwe,
I explain above why transponders needs to be replaced.

How can this be unless the donor cluster is from a much newer vehicle?
