Hello everyone. I own a 2004 Touareg, 3.2L petrol. It has a standard flip key, no start/stop button. Everything works. I want a second key made, but the local Locksmiths refuse. I haven't found anyone for six months, everyone's giving me the cold shoulder. This is a remote state in the US. I have a Launch x431 ProV5, a Launch key programmer, and an EEPROM reader. Official dealers here ask for around $750-$800 for a key. Locksmiths usually charge $50 and up for just a key with a chip for starting. But not for Volkswagen. I have a Chinese key that I can program for the Touareg before pairing. Am I correct in assuming I need both a login and a CS for this procedure? How can I get the PIN code and CS from a dump?

Why? What reason do they offer you?

They don't make European cars, that's what some people said. And someone else said they could only start the car without remote control for the central locking system. Someone else promised and then disappeared. I'm a new resident here, and the locals confirm that they're reluctant to make European cars. This is America, and I'm still in the north. I'm an automotive and aircraft engineer and a radio electronics specialist. So, I have some knowledge. I'd be grateful for advice on how to do this correctly. I can even replace the diagnostic equipment if that helps. It's within reasonable prices.

Typically that information isn't supported here since (I think) VCDS does not focus on "keys".

Some knowledgeable members or Administrators may comment, however general support is usually only offered to Ross-Tech customers and support typically focuses on what VCDS is capable of. (key coding is not one of them).

This is a VCDS Ross-Tech. forum for owners of a Ross-Tech. product.
(unlike many other automotive forums).

Check your post occasionally for additional replies.

Yeah, but it's all set up for it, it's just missing the button and wiring. We retrofit it using parts sourced in Germany in our 2004 way back when.

@EuroX or @Jetta 97 might know. I don't.

Thanks, I'll wait a little longer and then write to them. This is a cry from the heart; everyone around here is just lazy, and in general, Americans are lazy and stupid in all industries.

You would need other tools to pull pin and CS and then would need to write CS into the key before using pin to add the key. 2004 vw Touareg has kessy. All keys are stored in kessy module. Both CS and pin can be pulled from kessy module if you have eeprom reader,software and know where to look. But even then with that information you must also have tools to write CS into the key. After that VCDS can be used to adapt key using pincode. Note when adding key all keys must be present and all keys must be added during programming session otherwise they will no longer work.

Finding a good locksmith is hard many don't want to deal with german vehicles because the security is rather good and they are afraid of screwing something up. Most asian and domestic vehicles are a walk in the park in comparison to anything german.

It looks like you dont have VCDS. Ask the Launch support for what you need

If I get the cs and pin code, can I use xprog3 for launch to prepare the key for burning? Or do I need more advanced equipment like vvdi for this?

I see no reason why xprog3 wouldn't work. I use other tools but xprog3 should work on such a vintage vehicle.

Huh? Everyone around here owns a genuine VCDS, do you?

Are you using some sort of translator? Just so you know, your last comment was a insult to the entire forum.
