I had to replace the charge air cooler on my vehicle, and trying to bleed cooling system with VCDS did not work (read refuse by controller type of message).

However, with ODIS-S went like a breeze.

Is Ross-Tech interested to work to understand what ODIS-S is doing, so we can make VCDS better? I have plenty of tools to hook on canbus, if that what is needed to be done.

Which version of VCDS did you try/work with exactly and what was the exact error message you got?

vcds 25.3.2 error is this: Error: Conditions not correct or request sequence error

Now I know that procedure will not start unless coolant is at 71 degrees C, but I am unsure if VCDS will tell me same as ODIS, cycle ignition, touch brake pedal, release, depress accelerator, release, and all those steps. ODIS will tell to run engine, and will pause the procedure, until it sees coolant at 71C.

No, VCDS won't tell you those steps (yet). Let me clarify, does VCDS do the Basic Setting once you do meet those prerequisites? Meaning, is all you are missing the information what conditions need to be met BEFORE starting the basic setting? If that is the case, we can add that rather easily once we know what the conditions in question are. All further steps, once it's started should come from the control module but since I do not have this specific engine/system available for testing, I can't speak to this myself.

I've waited until coolant was above 71C. Then I went for it, instructions are to keep brake and accelerator pedal pressed, which is different than ODIS, I am now about 10 minutes further and the procedure is not yet finished, rpm went for 3000 rpm same as ODIS, came back. ODIS has a timer of 384 sec when it completes the procedure. VCDS does not complete it.

Some print screens from ODIS. rpm was in full control of the engine computer.
