Hi all,

I recently purchased an Audi A8 D4.5 (Facelift) with the 4.0 TFSI engine.
When starting the car I get a fault saying "Pre Sense not available". Anyone know why this might happen?
My ACC and lane assist works fine.

When looking for fault codes using VCDS I found this:

Code:
Address 8F: Pretens. Frt Left (J854)
Labels: 4H0-980-94x-RGS.clb
Part No SW / HW: 4H0 980 945 B / C
Component: RGS-VL H13 0080
Dataset Number: 4H0909614C 0003
Coding: 0066F609031F0376070308014240C0010000
Fault Found:

12586240 - Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error
B2000 09 [10001001] - Component Failure
[Electronic Control Unit Malfunction]
MIL ON - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
Freeze Frame:
Fault Priority: 1
Fault Frequency: 1

Address 90: Pretens. Frt Right (J855)
Labels: 4H0-980-94x-RGS.clb
Part No SW / HW: 4H0 980 946 B / C
Component: RGS-VR H14 0080
Dataset Number: 4H0909615C 0003
No faults found.

Any help, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

From what I have observed here on the forum regarding this type of fault, it is accurate and most likely going to require a dealer visit.

12586240 - Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error B2000 09 [10001001] -

Component Failure [Electronic Control Unit Malfunction] MIL ON - Confirmed -

Also, a complete Auto-Scan would be helpful.

Okay, thank you. Yes I have a full scan of the car, but unfortunately my VAG computer broke… hopefully repaired soon. Does this fault require any hardware change (Module (J854)) or is it coding? Thank you!

This error usually means the control module is unrecoverable and requires hardware replacement, hence the recommendation to head to the dealer:

12586240 - Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error
B2000 09 [10001001] - Component Failure
[Electronic Control Unit Malfunction]

Hi all,

Just a quick update on this issue. I spoke with my local Audi dealership, and they were able to identify the problem. The seat belt tensioner module had an internal fault, and the only solution was to replace the entire belt tensioner unit. The total cost came to €900, which included the new part, installation, and programming to the car.
