What am I doing wrong? I was trying to scan the vehicle for a friend for a check engine light came on and went out after he bought it. Could communicate with Gateway and showed faults in multiple control modules but would not communicate with control modules to check and clear? What am I doing wrong? I have the Hex net blue tooth head.

Waxing pedantic here, but the HEX-NET is WiFi, not Bluetooth.
Since you have an HN2, the first thing I'd try is turning off DoIP on the Options screen.
