Then Fuel Pressure (Desired) Which is a calculation that the ECU makes.

The system will work to keep ACTUAL in line with DESIRED (or Target)

Engine speed, Fuel pressure rel (relative or how) IDE00589, Fuel high pressure: control deviation IDE01378 and Fuel pressure regulator valve: specified value rail pressure IDE02228.

Hi Thanks for your input, i have logged data here using just text, and also graph using a different software,, The point i'm trying to find out is What is REL, what does it stand for,, it is displayed as fuel pressure REL, so obviously it is to do with fuel pressure as its name suggests, but the data does not match the fuel pressure sensor values,, fuel pressure sensor at one end of the fuel rail, the other end the Regulator. What is REL, is it what the fuel pressure regulator is measuring ? which you would expect readings to fluctuate a lot as the regulator is working, and we have the fuel pressure sensor for that ?.

rel means relative to ambient pressure, as opposed to absolute (which is relative to a full vacuum). The air you're breathing is somewhere in the vicinity of 101 kPa absolute, yet to you it feels like no pressure at all, that's why it's 0 kPa relative. You convert from relative to absolute by adding the ambient pressure (101kPa at sea level in calm weather); when you're talking about fuel pressures in the 32000 kPa range, it all becomes kind of irrelevant. It is however very important for intake pressures, which are often measured in kPa rel as well.

Hi Thanks for the reply, it sounds similar turbo absolute and gauge pressure, i see 101 kpa approx 1000mbar at sea level. at this cranking speed and vacuum, can you explain the difference from measure fuel pressure specified and the Rel difference values equates to, to arrive at Rel 25870 Kpa with out me having a vacuum Gauge and Cranking speed, in theory

should of simplyfied it, instead of taking the piss, But finally everyone with vcds will know what Rel stands for, By my effects to get to the bottom of it, it should of been staight forward reply from Vcds, i had asked several times over a period of time, But here it is i have simplified it after research, easy once you know,

"REL" stands for Relative, so in this case, it is relative fuel pressure. as i said originally The name Fuel pressure REL is obviously to do with Fuel pressure ?

Relative fuel pressure is the difference in pressure between the fuel rail and the intake manifold
