Engine is ALH and pins are 1, 4,5,6,7,14, 16
16 red power, 14 brown earth
problem is green is pin 4 and 5, this is not connected to any unit on other end -- Where does this need to go to?
1 = blue
6 = black
7 = white

Any ideas where these wires should connect to since my cable is dead.
ECU gets power, verified at relays

OK after reading some threads it looks like Pin 4 & 5 should be ground. Please can somebody confirm. Ground body or ground ECM?

Ok both pin 4& 5 goes to ground. T121/4 or T121/5 Br/Ro on ECU.

DLC pins (that VCDS cares about):

1 - Switched power -- not all cars have this -- only HEX-NET cares at all and will work without it.
4 & 5 - Ground.
6 - CAN-H (not relevant to VCDS on an ALH)
7 - K-line (data to/from an ALH ECU)
14 - CAN-L (not relevant to VCDS on an ALH)
15 - L-Line (not relevant to VCDS on an ALH)
16 - Power.

Your ECU needs power on at least two different pins, one is for switched power, the other for unswitched.

If the ECU is installed in a car, the K-line goes into the cluster first, where the cluster can disconnect it from the "W" line that runs to the ECU.
