Hello, I come to this forum with a pretty typical issue: Byte 18 bixenon coding.
I have a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen TDI (NAR), which originally came with halogens from the factory. Yesterday, I did an OEM bixenon w/ LED DRL retrofit, involving a 10 --> 14 pin adapter, new headlights, a new highline BCM out of a 2013 Golf GTI that came factory with xenons and LED DRLs, and the running of the two shutter wires to pins 48 and 49 on that BCM.
The new xenons plugged in fine, low beams and high beams work, etc- but I cannot for the life of me get the LED DRLs (the fancy dot ones) to light up.
Right now, using a mix of my old BCM coding and the new BCM's original Byte 18, all exterior lights work, except for some reason the car runs the marker lights as the DRLs.
Pardon the ugliness, I plan to polish them but I wanted to make sure they worked first.
Now to paste out all the relevant info.
Old, lowline BCM coding: 2F380E3F802F3EC4008800C1740000E449800086535D0560648000200040
New, highline BCM coding (untouched): 6F180A1A90272A04008800C170000D4448052086434D8D20E48420240040
New, highline BCM coding when combined with old, lowline BCM coding, while maintaining Byte 18 and the xenon shutter options: 2F380A3F802F3EC4008800C1740008E449842086535D0560E48400240040
The old, lowline BCM seemed to have the Byte 18 obfuscated, as it said "00". I have NOT touched the Byte 18 on my old BCM, but that BCM is no longer installed in the car. The new, highline BCM had the "20" coding from the GTI it came out of. With Byte 18 set to "20", the behavior of the side marker lights acting as DRLs happens as seen above. I also tried "09" in the VCDS dropdown (supposedly the coding for the wagon). That coding gave an error for the left and right DRLs in my MFI, and no side marker lights. Also, looking up a BCM Byte 18 values table (found here, row 79 VW362 XENON NAR), supposedly "4F" would be the appropriate code for the Mk6 wagon with xenons. I tried "4F", but that gave an error for the left and right "front side light". To recap, the only Byte 18s I have tried are "20", "09", and "4F". I have not tried more because I am afraid of breaking something.
Here are some photos of my 10 to 14 pin adapter in the engine bay, because I didn't think to grab a photo of them before I installed them (oops, my bad). I can try to get a better photo of the adapters when the headlights come out to get polished later. Could it be that my wiring is the issue, rather than the BCM coding?

Please ignore the HVAC codes, they are due to me installing a dual zone Climatronic panel while having a single zone airbox behind the dash. The Instruments, Steering, and ABS codes are related to my Openpilot retrofit, those codes are only present because I did not have my Comma 3 installed at the time of the scan.
TL;DR: I need help getting LED DRLs to work, since I retrofitted them to my cheapo wagon using junkyard parts and an AliExpress adapter wiring harness. Everything else works except for the LED DRLs. I am unsure if this is a Byte 18 issue or a wiring issue.

------------------------------22 Faults Found------------------------------Please ignore the HVAC codes, they are due to me installing a dual zone Climatronic panel while having a single zone airbox behind the dash. The Instruments, Steering, and ABS codes are related to my Openpilot retrofit, those codes are only present because I did not have my Comma 3 installed at the time of the scan.
TL;DR: I need help getting LED DRLs to work, since I retrofitted them to my cheapo wagon using junkyard parts and an AliExpress adapter wiring harness. Everything else works except for the LED DRLs. I am unsure if this is a Byte 18 issue or a wiring issue.
