B7 service interval question for gurus......

So I set my service interval to 5k miles and it worked and notified me at 5k miles. I then used vcds to reset it and during the next 5k miles my abs pump failed and I replaced that 5 times until I figured out what was wrong. The problem was a bad connection on the back of the instrument cluster. I sprayed deoxit contact cleaner on it and it fixed the abs problem. In that repair time I did disconnect the battery. Fast forward to the 5k service point and the car did NOT NOTIFY ME.

Does the service reminder stop working if the battery is disconnected? Does it stop if the instrument cluster is dissconnected?.

I then changed my oil and used vcds to reset it via instruments (46?)and when doing it that way a certain sequence must be followed. I forget off the top of my head what the sequence is. So hypothetically as close as I can remember 42, 44, 43, 47, 45, 46, 49, 48. When I went to do that 2 of thoes 4x numbers, aka 42 and I think 46 gave errors. But I finished and the vcds said completed successfully...
There presently are zero errors on the vcds scan.

Any gurus have anything to assist?

My apologies. I didn't think that the Sri file was added. I did click it 4 times. Perhaps a notification saying " SRI file added to scan" would have clarified that for the newbies....

After you click [Add to logfile], the log in question will be the most recent file in your Logs sub-folder, typically:
C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Logs\

I don't understand EXACTLY what your asking for.
I believe that the SRI info was added to my log file that I posted above directly after UWE posted his first post. It is located at the very end of that file, aka scroll down to see it. It was added 4 times at the end of that log file , as I stated above..

I doubt it, but wait until you have a bit more than the current 100 miles and 5 days since service, then repeat the disconnection and see if those channels revert to zero.

I should also mention that when the ABS module failed that causes other systems to stop working. Such as cruise control and the speedometer. Now the speedometer is simply reading zero all the time and because of that zero miles are added to the odometer even though the car was driven approx 500 during the ABS failure. The ABS has since been replaced and the wiring fault at the instrument cluster fixed and that resulted in the ABS to now work correctly. The speedometer started working at the same time that the abs unit started working. The odometer has recorded over 5k miles . But in reality the car has been driven about 5500..

The ABS wheel speed sensors are used to derive vehicle speed by the ABS module which then broadcasts this via the Powertrain CAN, no longer is there a separate VSS - so what you describe is expected behavio(u)r.

Correct, but the original question was "would the abs fault cause the service reminder to NOT REMIND ME of a 5k service due to the fact that the odometer is not able to record milage during the abs fault?

I guess most of us don't understand why this is even a question. Your broken car isn't recording mileage, why would you expect the service reminder to work?

OK, if the odometer (in the cluster) isn't tallying distance, then I wouldn't expect the SRI counters (also in the instrument cluster) to tally distance either.

And the first mention of "odometer" in this thread was in post #11, today, so I don't see this as being the "original" question. ;)
