**WD-40** I am getting tired of people that THINK WD-40 as a "lubricant"!!!

Is more of a solvent, it may cure a noisy hinge, but in the long run WD-40 will break down any oil or grease in the hingle, eventual evaporate, and then your worse off.

The only thing that I use WD-40 for is removing old sticker goo. I was a big user of the stuff to dry ignition wires on my motorcycles and cars back in the olden days, but haven't needed to use it in recent times thanks to modern ignition systems not having problems every time that you drive through a puddle.....

Hahaha...WD-40 is a joke...lol. I might use it or similar products to remove the sticky residue left behind when removing a decal or something, but that's it.

Further to that, I think penetrating oils in general are a scam...lol. Anybody that's exposed to real rust knows better than to even bother trying to use the stuff.

I once drove my pickup down an oiled dirt road. Picked up a lot of goo, and dust. Waited until I got home and thought I would use Dawn detergent but it didn't do shit. In the end WD40 was spray on, wipe off.

Showed my kid how to use it for its intended purpose, WATER DISPLACEMENT, when he drown his distributor on an old Toyota. Works perfect.

Really the best rust breaker is distilled water and soapy water.

Sometimes foaming ammonia glass cleaner works well to.

I find they are a lot less messy and when I heat them I can just spray more.

The best stuff in the CAN is Sili Kroil from Kano Labs and LPS products seem really good.

Castel makes a good penetrant called thrust and BG makes one that is also pretty good called Enforce

Wurth makes a spray penetrating grease called HHS2000 and Liqui Moly makes a the same thing as tacky lube. ( That's what you really want for a spray lube )

And the best way not to need the above in the first place is to assemble EVERYTHING using either Never-Seez or blue Locktite. It may seem counter-intuitive to say that Locktite would make something easier to take apart years down the road but it does, by sealing corrosion out of the threads of the fastener.

You would be surprised the use of a high impact grease such as Wurth SIG will seal the fastener and allow for movement.

Most builds ask not to use lubricants on thread lockers due to the increased shear torque it puts on the fastener.

Really what I am saying is use a Torque wrench........
Most over tighten and distort materials, causing further issues where they thing think they need a lubricant, however, it was just installed wrong to tight/loose.

best thing for your grounds and battery post terminals after you clean them, some spray them with WD-40, but i spray them with plastic spray & ignition sealer. keep the moisture off period. looks like new for years.
