Good day, I have a very, very strange and unusual problem with my car. There are multiple errors that don’t make any sense to me. I think it would be best to start from the beginning, to explain how it all started.
Last year in October, the air conditioning started behaving strangely. At first, it wouldn’t blow any air at all. Then, after a week, it started working normally for a few days. After that, the passenger side began blowing cold air even though it was set to heat. Two days later, it returned to normal.
Shortly after that, a start-stop system error appeared on the display near the steering wheel. Then, five days later, a new yellow battery warning appeared, saying it wasn’t critical, but should be checked by a mechanic.
At that point, I started researching what the problem might be, and various potential issues came up. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the cable that goes to the battery’s negative terminal sensor, and the yellow battery warning disappeared.
After all that, we tried to use the rear window defroster (which we normally don’t use), but it didn’t work.
I then bought three different diagnostic tools and replaced the sensor on the battery’s negative terminal, but the error about no communication with the sensor remained. In the meantime, the original battery completely failed. I installed a new Varta battery, but I can’t code it into the system, likely due to the same errors I’ll show later.
I tried testing the LIN wire on both the alternator and the sensor on the battery’s negative side — both are measuring 9.8V with the engine running but the car idling.
Another thing that I found very interesting: I removed the flap motor from the AC system (which was flagged as a mechanical fault), tested it outside its housing, and it worked fine. After reinstalling it, it worked normally for a few days, then the mechanical fault reappeared.
From what I can see, there are two persistent errors: one for basic settings, and another for the motor that brings in fresh air.
One more thing: last week, the flap motor on the driver’s side completely jammed — it wouldn’t respond no matter what I did. And now, all of a sudden, it’s working perfectly again.
Thanks in advance to everyone for any advice or help on what to do.
