My 2003 Audi TT has a manual transmission. The instrument cluster was displaying a warning about a missing TSM module. I checked channel 60 in the cluster, and it was set to 1279.

I had trouble finding clear information about channel 60 on the wiki, but I came across a forum post related to another Audi model. Based on that, I changed the value in channel 60 to 1025, and now the cluster has stopped complaining.

Is 1025 the correct value? Is there any meaning to 1279 it seems way off.

Is 1025 the correct value?
I believe so.

Those channels are a sum that decodes into a binary bit-field. Unfortunately, only three of the bits are documented.

01025 = 10000000001 = Engine and Instrument Cluster (IMMO-III)
01027 = 10000000011 = Engine and Auto. Transm. and Instrument Cluster (IMMO-III)

Based on this, I would assume that the least significant bit (value 1) is Engine, the next one (value 2) is automatic transmission, and the left-most one (value 1024) is the Immo-3 cluster.

Is there any meaning to 1279 it seems way off.
Indeed, 1279 is a mess! It turns on a bunch of bits that are not documented.

01279 = 10011111111 = LOL/Wut?

You can do it before or after ,it does not matter. But if you have Used cluster, you will not be able to program Immobilizer, Audi TT will not allow program used cluster even if you have both SKC(Pins) form orig and donor. It has to be in NEW State to be bale to adopt it with Pins. This cluster is way to complicate then what is look like.
If you need programing you can contact me direct in message or email in my signature.
