I am hoping that someone knows the answer to this riddle. Knock Sensor 2 Signal too low- intemittent. I visibly checked the cables, sprayed connector cleaner on the contacts, cleaned and torqued the knock senor to 15ft lbs as per the manual and even replaced the knock sensor to be sure. I understand that the knock sensor generates AC current and the current output increases with the detection of pre-detonation occurances.
I did notice #3 wire on the car side of the connector with missing insulation but otherwise the wire checked fine for continuity between the connector point and the exposed wiring. This #3 wire I also determined to be the ground wire and #1-2 as being the AC power source wiring from the knock sensor. I had a passenger view the measuring block group #26 where I see knock sensor voltages that go up and down. There are only two knock sensors yet VCDS reports Voltages in Cyclinder 1, 2, 3 & 4 but obviously this is a 5 cylinder engine so there's probably another once if I keep looking. A snapshot of the voltages I see are as follows:
Cylinder 1 1.638V
Cylinder 2 .702V
Cylinder 3 1.638V
Cylinder 4 .819V
The engine idles nice and smooth but on occasion I get a lack of power when I step on the gas pedal to overtake someone on the highway. I suspect that this is when I get the error code or it could be unrelated?
Please see autoscan below and the immobilizer code is due to accidental use of an unprogrammed spare key.
