Hi,
i'm a lurker and a prospective buyer of VCDS. I read jack_moo to installation issue and realised that i may have the answer. I recently installed a towbar to my 2023 VW T-Roc R. As was stated in the thread, my car was (PR 1M5) Trailer hitch preparation, and i als had the issue of the (J345) Trailer Control Unit was not recognised. I took the car to my VW technician and it took him awhile to find the cause. The CanBus wiring which connects the Trailer Control Unit which is part of the Trailer hitch preparation had a connection under the dashboard in the vacinity of the steering column. This connection was covered in a foam sock, and when it was located the plug and socket were not connected. All the technician did was to connect the plug and socket together and from then the system could recognised the Trailer Control Unit. Whoever reads this please inform Jacky_moo. Thanks

Well this could be a fantastic time saver as I literally have the car in bits trying to trace wiring issues, I was about to pull the bcm and rep in the wiring direct to the module but what you have said makes much more sense.. now to find the connector !!! Thank you!

So these cars come with "trailer prep" but with a secret kill-switch that has to be turned on before you can use it.
