Controller refused the key using VCDS recommended pass key.

I'm trying to tweak some settings on my 2012 A6 C7 Allroad and trying to change things in the Parking Brake and Central Electrics modules are giving me the message 'Controller refused the key' using the recommended keys.

Is this a minor glitch or something more to it?

Failure to communicate (0) hex v2

Bought a used hex v2 installed vcds trying to force my 2012 tdi to force Regen. Program installed fine plugged in car and did the USB test connector was found and lights are flashing green when plugged into obd port but trying to go into engine menu I get communication failure (0). Tried install...

Not sure what you guys (users with "other" interfaces) are doing.... IMO, but your playing fast and loose with your verification credential.

Typo. Fixed. Any C7. Heck, it won't even work on a C6.

It's quite clear on the VCDS-Lite download page that it's for "2005 or older VAG cars". Now mind you, there are in fact a very few later models that it works with (mainly first-gen New Beetles and T5 Transporters), but in general around 2005 is the cut-off, because that's when most VAG models started requiring a direct CAN bus connection for diagnostic communications.
