Hi Folks,

I am a new user here so completely in the dark with regard to the use of VCDS, so apologies for any ridiculous questions or statements here.

I have a mk6 Golf GTD which developed the dreaded "button for driver assistance system faulty" error. Sure enough the Can Bus Gateway Module cover was about 15mm deep in water, presumably condensation. I managed to find an almost identical module on Ebay so installed it, having purchased the HEX-V2 kit from one of your UK distributors so as to configure the replacement item. The car now starts and runs okay basically but there is a ton of fault messages, I imagine because my car is of different spec to that of the gateway's original vehicle. An example being an error message for the Automatic Transmission controller not available and that's because my car is a 6 speed manual. Any tutorials that I have watched on YouTube shows the items in the Gateway Installation list having a tick box alongside the description of that particular controller which I believe would allow for me to look in detail of that particular controller so as to change the value, i.e. in my example change the number 2 item from automatic to 6 speed manual.

I would like to bet that I am doing something stupidly wrong so would be grateful for any help or guidance please.

Hi, sorry for my late reply.

Many thanks for your advice, it was a great help in getting rid of many of the faults. There are still one or two issues so I have run another scan which is copied below. I cant see any reference to it but neither the front nor rear wipers are working. The only thing working on that steering wheel stalk is the rear washer. Bizarrely the horn is showing a fault but seems to work perfectly.

That's brilliant, many thanks for your help. Actually that area under the bonnet is where I was am working to get to the Can Bus Gateway. I wonder if I disturbed or damaged the cabling. Something to look into

The reason my wipers weren't working was due to the bonnet being open! A little quirk that I was unaware of, where neither the wipers nor washers work if the bonnet is open. As far as the alarm horn is concerned it looks to be an issue with the device itself so I need to source a replacement.
