Good morning, I'm new.
I read and I think I understood that my first message of introduction and problem should be written here.
I hope I understood well, since I'm Italian and sometimes I don't understand English very well.

I've been following you for years for my coding and I've never needed to bother you because you're very good at explaining and solving common problems.
but this time I need your help

My name is Marco and I have an old Audi A3 8pa from 2006 to which I recently replaced the engine after its honorable 320,000km.

I'm crossing my fingers to be able to do the same even if it will be difficult.

I'm trying to make the car perfect, repairing all the defects and failures.

With the opportunity of having dismantled almost everything to reach some pieces, I decided to implement the SDS that I didn't have, to implement the rear camera and other things.

Everything works perfectly, but I noticed that when the phone connects to Bluetooth, it emits the usual "blip" of successful connection... but it does it at a very high volume...

in the past, if I lowered the volume at the same time I heard the "blip", I was able to lower it also for the following times...

now instead, even if I lower it while I hear it, the next time it always starts at maximum...

it's really annoying...

Before asking you I tried to search on the wiki, the various adaptations of the STG77, but there are only 3 entries that are not the ones I'm looking for.

Surely there will be a channel in adaptation that sets this volume, but I don't know which one.

Can anyone tell me in which channel to find it?

I would like to lower it to the minimum possible volume or even remove it if possible...

Thanks to whoever can answer me, I hope I haven't made a mistake in the section and method, being new.

Not until we know how your A3 is configured, to do that you need to post an Auto-Scan

Sure I can post an autoscan but I have to make a premise.

I am the owner of both VCDS and OBD11

VCDS was purchased in 2008 with an old laptop and winXP

That PC died after years (i think around 2019) and to have a fast product on the fly I bought OBD11 in about 2020.

I don't know if I can post an OBD11 scan here, I ask permission because I don't want to offend anyone.

I still have the VCDS but I would have to find a non-recent PC where I can reinstall all the drivers and software...

So tell me if I can post an obd11 scan or if a vcds scan is mandatory.

Thanks

This site is run by Ross-Tech to support owners of their product VCDS so posting an Auto-Scan made with VCDS is mandatory.

If you can only do a scan with OBD11 then you need to seek help on their support forum.

Yes I understand, in fact I wanted to ask for correctness and I don't want to commit wrong actions...

Yes I bought the original cable in 2008 or 2009 approximately...
I don't remember the exact year, but I remember well that it was original.

in these days of absence I made sure that the old PC would turn on again..
this morning I succeeded in the enterprise, but inside the PC there is no longer the program or the drivers of the cable.

From the link just provided can I download both the drivers and the software?

it is an old intel centrino laptop with windows XP on board.
(at that time there was that operating system)

if you guide me to the complete restoration, I can send you the appropriate VCDS scan

in the meantime i tried to install the latest version of the link provided on this old pc with windows xp.
the installation went regularly.
immediately after it installed the usb drivers and i did not receive any errors.

as soon as i open the program i go to the options to do the test.

if i leave the cable connected to the pc usb without connecting it to the obd socket... it returns an OK code (photo 1)

while if i also connect it to the obd i get a red alarm (photo 2)

sure

it's an original cable bought between 2008 and 2009 at a price that seems to me around $200 if I remember correctly...

the software at that time seems to me to have been 18.9.5 or something like that... many years have passed

I may be mistaken, but I don't think that is a RT product.

absolutely yes..
I can confirm it 100%
I should find the purchase email but I assure you that it is.

paid about 200 if I remember correctly and it has always worked on this pc with the old version of the software that I think was 18.9.5 or 18.9.6 something like that... many years have passed...

then after a few years this pc broke and since it was old and uncomfortable I bought the obd11 for convenience with the smartphone, since at that time vcds did not yet exist in a wifi version or was still in its early stages of development...

I should try to install that old version of the software, since the pc is the same, the cable is the same, only the software is different...
but I don't know where to recover that old software

EDIT:
I'm going through a lot of old emails, I found an old conversation where I was talking to another guy about coding, I said I had the VAG 704
and it was December 2008

no, I don't believe it...

years have passed and it has always worked...

the pc also went online correctly... if it had been a clone, the cable would have bricked..

Did you click on the "RT memorial garden" link above in post #10 ? There are interfaces there years before your "2008 cable" and several years after ; do you see ANY of those that look like yours?

Just because it "worked" at one time does not make it a genuine RT product.

they actually look different...

so you're saying I was scammed back then and never noticed?

Ricordavo di aver speso così tanto perché era originale...

Allow me to clarify...

That is not any product Ross-Tech ever made.

Whoever represented it as an original genuine Ross-Tech product, has indeed misspoke. Well, actually they lied to you. I believe that unit to be an illegal knock-off of our VAG-COM and VCDS interface products.

Likely, the supplier sent you a disc with the hacked copy of VCDS or VAG_COM.

Yes, Yes, and spending xs funds doesn't make it Genuine.

Did you notice the picture I posted ; the one that looks like yours ..... that is originally from aliexpress.com a web-site in China. A well known supplier of counterfeit / cloned / copied goods.

I don't remember the seller, but it certainly wasn't Aliexpress... I never bought from those sites back then.

I'm very sorry to find out today that 17 years ago I was scammed and I only realized it now...

now I don't know how to send you my VCDS scan since I only have OBD11 available...

eventually, since Bruce intervened in person, maybe I can ask you for the list of the various adaptations in the STG77 kindly?

or just the adaptation regarding the bluetooth connection sound that I would like to lower or deactivate

Find someone in your area with a Genuine Ross-Tech interface cable or Hex-Net. Then, get a complete Auto-Scan of your vehicle and post it here on your thread.

A Auto-Scan is Required here. (from a genuine RT product) No, obd.....other.

or, purchase a Ross-Tech product:

I understand... and you are absolutely right..

I have always tried to buy everything original, always.. even for other things in life...
I would never have thought of buying a fake product, paying as much as the original...

ok, I'll see if I can find someone who has the original product to do the scan...
I had a friend in an Italian forum a few km away that I haven't heard from in years, but he could help me...
I hope I can, otherwise I'll have to stay with that deafening blip.

Thanks to everyone, and sorry for the bad impression I made
