I have bought a car, the park assist does not function, fault finding and investigation has led to me finding that the steering control module has been replaced in the last year, it's DOM is March 2024.
I do not know what was fitted originally and there is no record of this work having been carried out. I do know that the garage that sold me the car, have also replaced the rear wiper stalk and had issues getting it working, but apparently needed to code it in.
My suspicion, is that there is a problem with this new module. The car was bought with the fault in existence, but having no history of the module swap, which is probably prior to the car dealership taking ownership of the car, I am somewhat at a disadvantage, so I'm trying to ascertain what should be fitted. The fault resolution was a priority up to now, as I envisaged a fairly simple recoding, but there doesn't appear to be any other obvious coding option.
In parallel, I would like to retrofit cruise control, this will require a new stalk or set of stalks and another steering control module compatible with my chassis build. I cannot reliably back work from what I have fitted, as it might not be correct, so I need to know what SCM options I have, hence the question in the retrofit section, where I thought someone might know the answer.
Once I know what is likely to work in terms of the retrofit, I believe that I can accomplish the fault resolution and cruise control fit in one intervention.
