I went ahead and purchased the erwin wiring diagram. This is what I have.

At the T10r connector from the J234 airbag module I see the yellow wire T10r/3 at 7.5v. The T10r/8 br/bl wire has 11v. The T10r/1 black wire shows 0v. Both T10r/2 & 9 are ground with 22ohms to ground. I tested for continuity through the T10r ten pin connector to J706 and to G452 pressure sensor. Shouldn't the black wire T10r1 going to the instrument panel show voltage?

Hello colleague. I'm looking at the schematics of your convertible and I'm a bit confused about it. Unit J706 is a seat occupancy monitor (only passenger side). European cars don't have this unit. But I'm not able to find the electrical diagram for this connection. I'm looking directly at the VW system (Elsa). Given that fault 02511 is located in the Airbag module (15), the electrical diagram should also be in the Airbag. But it's not. I have a hunch that Unit J706 is related to the comfort unit J393 and has the only purpose - to inform about the seat load. If you direct me to which section within Erwin you were looking for, I'll try to help you.

Please consider the information about the connection to J393 as just my guess. Because I simply cannot find the J706 unit in my diagrams. The only thing I can find is that this unit is part of a system called PODS (passive occupant detection system) and that it concerns the passenger seat only. The numbering of your diagrams from Erwin is not the same as the numbering of my diagrams from the Elsa system. In order for me to understand exactly what you are working with, you need to insert a picture. Maybe like the one I sent you.

This value is strange. What is the battery voltage value at the time of this measurement? (measured with the same multimeter). I think the voltage on BR/BL should be the same as the battery.

After I sent the email, I realized that the battery had died from leaving the ignition on while testing. I will redo the testing tomorrow.

Here are the new readings with fully charged battery. If it helps, I do remember replacing the J234 because it was defective. The replacement J234 was used and it's not showing as a problem.

The replacement J234 has the same part number and index number so it was an exact replacement.

Important is the information see #33. Next is the coding of the module unit 15. According to the ETKA catalog, the module 6Q0909605AF is intended only for the Beatle Cabrio. But still, please check the correct coding in VCDS. Because I'm not sure under what conditions the car was equipped with the PODS system at the factory. Please inform me about the status of this check.

Here is the first auto scan from February. J706 was already a problem albeit I see it said intermittent and now it doesn't say intermittent. At the time, I assumed that J706 error was due to the J234 being defective.
