Initial Fuel Filling VW

just a question i went to bleed the fuel system on Vw 2.0 TDI 2012 engine code CFHC & the vcds screen showed

Initial fuel filling IDE00470-ENG98891 & Go, but below there are 4 boxes 2 white and 2 blue one in white box, has filling time, blue box has a small s then white box has fuel level, then the last box blue has a small l in it,
When i select GO it prompts to add in total 3 dijits i tried all sorts, even just 1 then 2 then 3 digits plus tried adding decimal point i could not get it to work,
Normally for example Vw Golf it has a different screen first time i have seen this, in the end i had to use another scanner to get the job done, but there will be another time i need to use it The scan is unrelated just to post.

If you are needing to purge air out of the fuel system, then I would suggest Basic Settings IDE00459-Test of transfer fuel pump.

You may want to have a battery charger hooked up when you do this. Some ECMs as I recall will run the test until you stop it, others will run the test for say 45 to 60 second blocks, so may need to the Basic Settings step a few times in a row to be sure all air is purged out.

Depending on the engine and how "dry" of a fuel system you're dealing with, it is suggested for up to 3 minutes of total run time. Having said that, I did maybe 1 minute for simple things like 2.0 fuel filter swaps. But when I had the pleasure of doing a complete fuel system (fuel cap to injectors), I ran it a whole lot before I cranked the engine over.

Hi Thanks for your reply but i expected vcds to reply to their format i mentioned, this is the first time i have seen this, other vag strait forward procedure.
i used my other scanner to bleed the system i ran it a few time to be sure no air,

That is the Norm i have used it before on other vag vehicles but for this vw caddy not the same that is why i posted the question about the 3 digits there are 4 boxes 2 blue two white and you cant go any further as it keeps prompting for 3 digits, so i dont think anyone has come across this what i am seeing,

I believe that was a bug in the released VCDS which was withdrawn and replaced a few hours later, to correct this you need to update your VCDS.

you could be right i have recently had a prompt for a newer update not yet installed, the 4 boxes you are shown when you select Basic settings
has Filling time above it, then a blue box with a small letter s in it, then another white box & above says Fuel level then the last box blue has a small letter l , but no matter what you do with the digits, it rejects it,

Hi i recently had another vag with when it came to bleeding the fuel system intial fuel filling with this same chart, anyway i got it to work so it's not a bug
if you type in the first field box for time,, example 120 then in the other i put 25, which works out say 2mins, and 1/4 tank of fuel and it works, just thought id mention it if anyone else has a problem with it,
