Hello everyone, and thank you for letting me be part of your lovely forum 
Apologies if I mess up.......but here goes.....
Help needed with stuff I can't figure out please.
Recently acquired a June 2014 VW CC, but wasn't registered until December 2016. From the digits stamped on the top edge of the battery, it looks like it's the original from 2016 and not holding the charge very well, not surprised really!
Got a new oem battery from vw dealer on back order from Germany and should arrive soon. So, thought I'd check out the VCDS battery coding routine to get familiar with with the process beforehand and I diligently watched the Ross-Tech Youtube video .................3 times!
First I did an an update on my HEX V2 to 25.3.0.4, and all went well.
Then performed an Auto-Scan:
Next, I erased all DTCs. Took the CC for a run. Another scan, and all fault codes had disappeared.
Having changed the oil, filters and spark plugs recently, I did an RSI reset. VCDS went a bit haywire with blue & white boxes jumping all over the place! Not seen this before, it was fine before the update. Eventually, after a couple of goes, it seemed to work. Also, it couldn't communicate with 71-Battery Charger, not sure why?

Aaaanyway, went to 61-Battery Regulator:

The drop-down menu is greyed out, can't do anything with it.
So, tried the Long Coding Helper:
Haven't got a clue what that's all about
Lets see what Advanced ID does:
Nothing I understand there I'm afraid.
Now, why would the drop-down be greyed out I wonder? Bear in mind, I'm only practising here, with no intention of trying to code anything yet.
1. Does the bonnet (hood) have to be open? Sounds a bit daft that, but you never know eh.
2. Does the old battery physically have to be removed and new one inserted with + & - cables attached for VCDS to 'see' the new one needs to be coded?
3. Am I just stupid?

------------------------------23 Faults Found-----------Next, I erased all DTCs. Took the CC for a run. Another scan, and all fault codes had disappeared.
Having changed the oil, filters and spark plugs recently, I did an RSI reset. VCDS went a bit haywire with blue & white boxes jumping all over the place! Not seen this before, it was fine before the update. Eventually, after a couple of goes, it seemed to work. Also, it couldn't communicate with 71-Battery Charger, not sure why?

The drop-down menu is greyed out, can't do anything with it.

Nothing I understand there I'm afraid.
Now, why would the drop-down be greyed out I wonder? Bear in mind, I'm only practising here, with no intention of trying to code anything yet.
1. Does the bonnet (hood) have to be open? Sounds a bit daft that, but you never know eh.
2. Does the old battery physically have to be removed and new one inserted with + & - cables attached for VCDS to 'see' the new one needs to be coded?
3. Am I just stupid?
